Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A blower configured to be positioned in confined spaces and to provide ventilation of a fluid, such as temperature controlled air, is disclosed. In various embodiments, the blower is configured to have a reduced axial thickness, which can be desired in such confined spaces. In some embodiments, the blower has an integral filter, a wire channel for the routing of one or more wires, and/or an exposed backplate. In some embodiments, the blower has a snap-fit circuit board, containment system for mounting the motor, one or more vanes for directing fluid flow, shrouded impeller, and/or integrated connector.

The centrifugal blower of claim 1 , wherein the channel is formed in the housing, the channel extending at least partly between the cover and the circuit board. 3. The centrifugal blower of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of blades are curved in a radial direction. 4. The centrifugal blower of claim 1 , wherein the conductor is connected to the circuit board. 5. The centrifugal blower of claim 1 , wherein the cover is monolithic with the second side of the housing. 6. The centrifugal blower of claim 1 , wherein a radial extent along a center of the outlet is along a connection between the first and second axially extending walls. 7. The centrifugal blower of claim 1 , wherein an axial extent of the first axially extending wall is less than an axial extent of the impeller, and wherein an axial extent of the second axially extending wall is less than the axial extent of the impeller. 8. A blower comprising: a housing defining an interior space, the housing comprising: an inlet; an outlet; a first side and a second side connected by a sidewall, the first and second sides extending at least partially radially inwards from the sidewall to move fluid radially to the outlet through at least a portion of the interior space, wherein the interior space is between the first and second sides; a clip connected to the sidewall; a hook connected to the sidewall, wherein the clip is mated with the hook to secure the first side to the second side by forming the sidewall; and a channel comprising an outer end and an inner end, the channel on the second side of the housing; an impeller comprising a plurality of blades configured to draw fluid from the inlet to the outlet; an electric motor assembly disposed in the housing, the electric motor assembly configured to rotate the impeller to draw fluid from the inlet to the outlet; a conductor configured to supply electric power to the electric motor assembly, the conductor extending into the interior space, at least a portion of the conductor between the outer and inner ends of the channel; and a cover positioned on the second side of the housing over the channel, the at least a portion of the conductor between the interior space and the cover, wherein the channel comprises an opening into the interior space of the housing, the opening between the outer and inner ends to expose the conductor to the interior space between the outer and inner ends, and wherein the opening comprises a first portion contiguous with a second portion, the first portion radially extending along the second side, and the second portion axially extending along the sidewall. 9. The blower of claim 8 , further comprising a connector on the housing, the connector configured to connect the conductor to a power source to power the electric motor assembly. 10. The blower of claim 9 , wherein the connector is separate from the housing. 11. The blower of claim 9 , wherein the connector is unitary with the housing. 12.
