Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present disclosure relates to a communication scheme and system for the convergence of a 5G communication system for supporting a higher data transfer rate after the 4G system and the IoT technology. The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services (e.g., a smart home, a smart building, a smart city, a smart car or connected car, healthcare, digital education, retain business, security and safety-related service) based on the 5G communication technology and IoT-related technology. The present disclosure provides methods and apparatus for supporting a profile transfer between terminals and methods and apparatus for supporting easy use of a communication product.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A method performed by a first terminal for a device change in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: identifying a profile to be installed in a second terminal by receiving an input from a user; obtaining a configuration associated with the device change for the profile; receiving, from the second terminal, an embedded universal integrated circuit card (UICC) identifier (EID) of the second terminal indicated by the configuration, wherein the EID is scanned in a quick response (QR) code format or human-readable text format outputted in the second terminal; and transmitting, to a network entity, a first message including an integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID) for the profile and the EID of the second terminal, wherein a second message, including the ICCID and the EID, is transmitted from the network entity to a service provider, and wherein a third message, including the EID and one of a type of the profile or the ICCID of a requested profile corresponding to the profile, is transmitted from the service provider to the network entity. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: presenting, to the user, information on the device change, and wherein the profile is downloaded from the network entity to the second terminal based on the information. 3. A method performed by a second terminal for a device change in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: obtaining an embedded universal integrated circuit card identifier (EID) of the second terminal, wherein the EID of the second terminal indicated by a configuration associated with the device change for a profile; and outputting, to a first terminal, the EID in a quick response (QR) code format or human-readable text format, wherein the profile to be installed in the second terminal by receiving an input from a user is identified, wherein a first message including an integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID) for the profile and the EID, is transmitted from the first terminal to a network entity, wherein a second message, including the ICCID and the EID, is transmitted from the network entity to a service provider, and wherein a third message, including the EID and one of a type of the profile or the ICCID of a requested profile corresponding to the profile, is transmitted from the service provider to the network entity. 4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising: downloading, from the network entity, the profile based on information on the device change, and wherein the information on the device change is presented from the user. 5. A first terminal for a device change in a wireless communication system, the first terminal comprising: a transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals; and a controller configured to: identify a profile to be installed in a second terminal by receiving an input from a user, obtain a configuration associated with the device change for the profile, receive, from the second terminal, an embedded universal integrated circuit card identifier (EID) of the second terminal indicated by the configuration, wherein the EID is scanned in a quick response (QR) code format or human-readable text format outputted in the second terminal, and transmit, to a network entity, a first message including an integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID) for the profile and the EID of the second terminal, wherein a second message, including the ICCID and the EID, is transmitted from the network entity to a service provider, and wherein a third message, including the EID and one of a type of the profile or the ICCID of a requested profile corresponding to the profile, is transmitted from a service provider to the network entity. 6. The first terminal of claim 5 , wherein the controller is further configured to present, to the user, information on the device change, and wherein the profile is downloaded from the network entity to the second terminal based on the information. 7. A second terminal for a device change in a wireless communication system, the second terminal comprising: a transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals; and a controller configured to: obtain an embedded universal integrated circuit card identifier (EID) of the second terminal, wherein the EID of the second terminal indicated by a configuration associated with the device change for a profile, and output, to a first terminal, the EID in a quick response (QR) code format or human-readable text format, wherein the profile to be installed in the second terminal by receiving an input from a user is identified, wherein a first message including an integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID) for the profile and the EID, is transmitted from the first terminal to a network entity, wherein a second message, including the ICCID and the EID, is transmitted from the network entity to a service provider, and wherein a third message, including the EID and one of a type of the profile or the ICCID of a requested profile corresponding to the profile, is transmitted from a service provider to the network entity. 8. The second terminal of claim 7 , wherein the controller is further configured to download from the network entity the profile based on information on the device change, and wherein the information on the device change is presented from the user.
