Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An air cooled steam condenser having heat exchanger panels supported in a heat exchange frame section. A bottom bonnet runs along the bottom length of each heat exchanger panel for delivering steam to the bottom end of condenser tubes in the heat exchange panel and for receiving condensate formed in those same tubes. The tops of the tubes are connected to a top bonnet. Uncondensed steam and non-condensables are drawn into the top bonnet from the condenser tubes. A steam distribution manifold is located below the heat exchange section perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the heat exchange panels and delivers steam to each heat exchange panel via a single steam inlet located at a center point of each bottom bonnet.

The invention claimed is: 1. An air-cooled industrial steam condenser, comprising: a plurality of heat exchanger panels arranged in V-shaped pairs, each heat exchanger panel having a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis perpendicular to its longitudinal axis; one or more fans located above said plurality of heat exchanger panels and drawing air through said plurality of heat exchanger panels, each heat exchanger panel comprising finned single-channel condenser tubes and a top header, said top header connected to and in fluid communication with a top end of a plurality of said finned single-channel condenser tubes, each V-shaped pair of heat exchanger panels having a single steam inlet on a bottom surface thereof; said air cooled industrial steam condenser further comprising: a steam duct located beneath said heat exchanger panels and arranged along an axis that is perpendicular to longitudinal axes of said heat exchanger panels said steam duct in fluid communication with each of said single steam inlets. 2. The air-cooled industrial steam condenser according to claim 1 , further comprising: each V-shaped pair of heat exchanger panels comprising a bottom header running along a bottom of said heat exchanger panels; each said single steam inlet located on an underside surface of a corresponding bottom header. 3. The air-cooled industrial steam condenser according to claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of risers connecting said steam duct with a corresponding single steam inlet. 4. The air-cooled industrial steam condenser according to claim 2 , said plurality of said finned single-channel tubes comprising a plurality of primary condenser tubes and a plurality of secondary condenser tubes, said heat exchange panels further comprising a secondary chamber inside the bottom header and in fluid communication with bottom ends of said plurality of secondary condenser tubes. 5. The air-cooled industrial steam condenser according to claim 4 , wherein said top header is configured to receive non-condensables and uncondensed steam from respective said plurality of primary condenser tubes and deliver said uncondensed steam to respective said plurality of secondary condenser tubes. 6. The air-cooled industrial steam condenser according to claim 4 , wherein each said bottom header is configured to deliver steam to and receive condensate from respective said plurality of primary condenser tubes in both heat exchange panels in respective said V-shaped pairs of heat exchanger panels. 7. The air-cooled industrial steam condenser according to claim 2 , wherein said single steam inlets are located between opposing ends of and on said underside surface of corresponding bottom headers. 8. The air-cooled industrial steam condenser according to claim 1 , further comprising a plenum located between said plurality of heat exchanger panels and said one or more fans.
