A filter assembly that comprises a housing, an outer filter element, and an inner filter element. The outer filter element is positionable within the housing and comprises an outer filter media. The inner filter element is positionable within the outer filter element and comprises an inner filter media, a media support structure, an inner top endplate, and an inner bottom endplate. The inner top endplate comprising a top rib that extends continuously around a portion of a top surface of the inner top endplate.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of assembling a filter assembly, the method comprising: positioning an inner filter element comprising an inner filter media beneath an outer filter media of an outer filter element; inserting a top rib of an inner top endplate of the inner filter element, and subsequently the inner filter media into the outer filter media, the top rib extending continuously around a portion of a top surface of the inner top endplate, such that: a base portion of the top rib abuts the top surface and is located radially inwards of an outer peripheral edge of the inner top endplate, and a top portion of the top rib is located radially outwards of the base portion such that the top rib tapers radially outwards relative to the top surface and relative to a longitudinal axis of the inner filter element from the base portion to an axial end of the top portion at a constant non-zero angle; and attaching an inner bottom endplate of the inner filter element to an outer bottom endplate of the outer filter element. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the inserting of the top rib comprises moving the top rib through an aperture in the outer bottom endplate. 3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising compressing legs of the inner bottom endplate inwardly while moving the legs through a bottom throat of the aperture. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein, after the legs move through the bottom throat, the legs expand outwardly within a top skirt of the aperture. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the inner bottom endplate is attached to the outer bottom endplate after the outer bottom endplate is attached to a remainder of the outer filter element. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the outer bottom endplate is separate from a remainder of the outer filter element while the top rib is being inserted into the outer filter media. 7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the inner bottom endplate is attached to the outer bottom endplate before the outer bottom endplate is attached to a remainder of the outer filter element. 8. The method of claim 7 , further comprising attaching the outer bottom endplate to a remainder of the outer filter element after the top rib is inserted into the outer filter media. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the top rib has a constant thickness from the base portion to the top portion. 10. The method of claim 1 , wherein: insertion of the top rib occurs after positioning the inner filter element beneath the outer filter media; and attaching the inner bottom endplate to the outer bottom endplate occurs after inserting the inner filter media into the outer filter media.
