Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Various examples are directed to systems and methods for measuring a parameter related to patient health. An analyte sensor system may detect that the analyte sensor system has been applied to a host and may store analyte data describing the host. The analyte sensor system may determine that sensor use at the analyte sensor system has terminated and upload stored analyte data to an upload computing device.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of operating an analyte sensor system comprising a disposable sensor, the method comprising: detecting, by the analyte sensor system, that the analyte sensor system is worn by a host based on the disposable sensor providing analyte data indicative of consecutive readings of at least a threshold concentration of an analyte of the host; storing, by the analyte sensor system, the analyte data provided by the disposable sensor; determining, by the analyte sensor system, that use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over based on a failure to receive, from the disposable sensor, analyte data indicative of readings of at least the threshold concentration of the analyte of the host; and uploading, by the analyte sensor system, the stored analyte data to an upload computing device in response to the determining that use of the disposable sensor is over. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: after determining that the use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over, broadcasting, by the analyte sensor system, system identification data; receiving, by the analyte sensor system and from the upload computing device, a communication request comprising the system identification data; and establishing, by the analyte sensor system, a communication session with the upload computing device responsive to the communication request, wherein the uploading is performed using the communication session. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: after determining that the use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over, receiving, by the analyte sensor system, an upload request from the upload computing device; and receiving, from the upload computing device, authentication data. 4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: after determining that the use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over, receiving, by the analyte sensor system, an upload request from the upload computing device; broadcasting, by the analyte sensor system, system identification data; receiving, from the upload computing device, authentication data; and establishing, by the analyte sensor system, a communication session with the upload computing device, wherein the uploading includes transmitting the stored analyte data to the upload computing device. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein detecting that the analyte sensor system is worn by the host further comprises determining that the disposable sensor has provided the analyte data indicative of the consecutive readings of at least the threshold concentration for more than a threshold time. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining that use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over comprises determining that more than a threshold time has elapsed with the analyte sensor system being worn by the host. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the upload computing device further uploads the stored analyte data to a server system. 8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising producing, by the disposable sensor of the analyte sensor system, readings of a concentration of the analyte of the host. 9. A system for measuring a parameter related to patient health, the system comprising: an analyte sensor system configured to perform operations comprising: detecting that the analyte sensor system is worn by a host based on a disposable sensor of the analyte sensor system providing analyte data indicative of consecutive readings by the disposable sensor of at least a threshold concentration of an analyte of the host; storing the analyte data provided by the disposable sensor; determining that use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over based on a failure to receive, from the disposable sensor, analyte data indicative of readings of at least the threshold concentration of the analyte of the host; and uploading the stored analyte data to an upload computing device in response to the determining that use of the disposable sensor is over. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise: after determining that the use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over, broadcasting system identification data; receiving, from the upload computing device, a communication request comprising the system identification data; and establishing a communication session with the upload computing device responsive to the communication request, wherein the uploading is performed using the communication session. 11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise: after determining that the use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over, receiving an upload request from the upload computing device; and receiving, from the upload computing device, authentication data. 12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise: after determining that the use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over, receiving an upload request from the upload computing device; broadcasting system identification data; receiving, from the upload computing device, authentication data; and establishing a communication session with the upload computing device, wherein the uploading includes transmitting the stored analyte data to the upload computing device. 13. The system of claim 9 , wherein detecting that the analyte sensor system is worn by the host comprises determining that the analyte sensor system has provided the analyte data indicative of the consecutive readings of at least the threshold concentration. 14. The system of claim 9 , wherein detecting that the analyte sensor system is worn by the host further comprises determining that the analyte sensor system has provided the analyte data indicative of the consecutive readings of at least the threshold concentration for more than a threshold time. 15. The system of claim 9 , wherein determining that use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over comprises determining that more than a threshold time has elapsed with the analyte sensor system being worn by the host. 16. The system of claim 9 , further comprising the upload computing device, wherein the upload computing device is configured to perform operations comprising uploading the stored analyte data to a server system. 17. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions thereon that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising: detecting that an analyte sensor system is worn by a host based on a disposable sensor providing analyte data indicative of consecutive readings by the disposable sensor of at least a threshold concentration of an analyte of the host; storing the analyte data provided by the disposable sensor; determining that use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over based on a failure to receive, from the disposable sensor, analyte data indicative of readings of at least the threshold concentration of the analyte of the host; and uploading the stored analyte data to an upload computing device in response to the determining that use of the disposable sensor is over. 18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise: after determining that the use of the disposable sensor at the analyte sensor system is over, broadcasting system identification data; receiving from the upload computing device a communication request comp
