What is claimed is: 1. A filter medium comprising: a plurality of layers wherein each of the plurality of layers extends in a horizontal plane, and each of the plurality of layers includes an undulating strip of solidified material laid in a horizontal plane that also droops in a vertical direction, wherein the filter medium includes an annular shape defining an outer annular region and an inner annular region and the plurality of layers contact each other, and defines a plurality of pores therebetween; a cap portion including a first plurality of layers of solidified material including a first layer with a first undulating strip of solidified material extending in a first predetermined direction in a first horizontal plane and a second layer with a second undulating strip of solidified material extending in a second predetermined direction in a second horizontal plane, and the first layer is in contact with the second layer and the first predetermined direction is not parallel with the second predetermined direction; a bottom portion including a second plurality of layers of solidified material including a third layer with a third undulating strip of solidified material extending in a third predetermined direction in a third horizontal plane, and a fourth layer with a fourth undulating strip of solidified material extending in a fourth predetermined direction in a fourth horizontal plane, and the third layer is in contact with the fourth layer and the third predetermined direction is not parallel with the fourth predetermined direction; and wherein the undulations of the cap portion and the undulations of the bottom portion are out of phase with each other. 2. The filter medium of claim 1 , wherein the cap portion includes three to five undulating layers, and the bottom portion includes at least twenty undulating layers. 3. The filter medium of claim 1 , wherein the outer annular region includes a polygonal perimeter and the inner annular region includes a circular perimeter. 4. The filter medium of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of pores define a minimum dimension that is between 50 μm to 200 μm. 5. The filter medium of claim 4 , wherein the minimum dimension of the plurality of pores ranges from 70 μm to 170 μm. 6. The filter medium of claim 1 , wherein the first predetermined direction is perpendicular to the second predetermined direction. 7. The filter medium of claim 1 , wherein the first undulating strip includes a rectangular pattern, and the second undulating strip includes a trapezoidal pattern. 8. The filter medium of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of pores decrease in size along the vertical direction. 9. A filter comprising: a housing including an outer wall and an inner wall, wherein the outer wall and the inner wall define the same longitudinal axis, the inner wall defines a radial direction that passes through the longitudinal axis and that is perpendicular thereto, and a circumferential direction that is tangential to the radial direction and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and the inner wall is spaced radially away from the outer wall, the housing further defining a first end and a second end disposed along the longitudinal axis and a hollow interior; an inlet in fluid communication with the hollow interior; an outlet in fluid communication with the hollow interior; and a filter medium disposed in the hollow interior comprising a plurality of layers, wherein each of the plurality of layers extends in a horizontal plane, and each of the plurality of layers includes an undulating strip of solidified material laid in a horizontal plane that also droops in a vertical direction, wherein the filter medium includes an annular shape defining an outer annular region and an inner annular region and the hollow interior includes an outer annular chamber in fluid communication with the inlet and the outer annular region of the filter medium and a central cylindrical void concentric about the longitudinal axis that is in fluid communication with the outlet and the inner annular region of the filter medium, and the plurality of layers contact each other, defining a plurality of pores therebetween. 10. The filter of claim 9 , wherein the filter medium further comprises a cap portion including a first plurality of layers of solidified material including a first layer with a first undulating strip of solidified material extending in a first predetermined direction in a first horizontal plane and a second layer with a second undulating strip of solidified material extending in a second predetermined direction in a second horizontal plane, and the first layer is in contact with the second layer and the first predetermined direction is not parallel with the second predetermined direction; a bottom portion including a second plurality of layers of solidified material including a third layer with a third undulating strip of solidified material extending in a third predetermined direction in a third horizontal plane, and a fourth layer with a fourth undulating strip of solidified material extending in a fourth predetermined direction in a fourth horizontal plane, and the third layer is in contact with the fourth layer and the third predetermined direction is not parallel with the fourth predetermined direction; and wherein the undulations of the cap portion and the undulations of the bottom portion are out of phase with each other. 11. The filter medium of claim 10 , wherein the cap portion includes three to five undulating layers, and the bottom portion includes at least twenty undulating layers. 12. The filter of claim 10 , wherein the first predetermined direction is perpendicular to the second predetermined direction. 13. The filter of claim 10 , wherein the first undulating strip includes a rectangular pattern, and the second undulating strip includes a trapezoidal pattern. 14. The filter of claim 9 , wherein the outer annular region includes a polygonal perimeter and the inner annular region includes a circular perimeter. 15. The filter of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of pores define a minimum dimension that is between 50 μm to 200 μm. 16. The filter of claim 15 , wherein the minimum dimension of the plurality of pores ranges from 70 μm to 170 μm. 17. The filter of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of pores decrease in size along the vertical direction.
