Various systems and methods may guide, support, and/or house instruments. One exemplary system includes a guide tube having a manipulation section and mated with rails carrying instrument control members. Moving the rails with respect to the guide tube, or another point of reference, can control movement of the manipulation section.

The invention claimed is: 1. A medical system comprising: a guide tube including a body extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the body including: a first channel extending between the proximal end and the distal end, wherein the first channel includes a first opening extending along a side of the body from the proximal end to the distal end of the guide tube so that the first channel is exposed, and wherein the first channel is configured to receive a tool; and a second channel extending between the proximal end and the distal end, alongside the first channel; wherein the second channel includes a second opening extending along the side of the body from the proximal end to the distal end so that the second channel is exposed, wherein the body is rigid and has a pre-formed shape having at least one change in direction along a length of the body, and wherein the guide tube further includes an optical device integrally formed with the body. 2. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein the first opening is configured to allow for insertion or removal of the tool through the side of the first channel. 3. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein the first channel includes a proximal opening on the proximal end of the body and a distal opening on the distal end of the body. 4. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein an entirety of the guide tube is rigid, and the guide tube includes a curved section. 5. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein the guide tube further includes a proximal member at the proximal end, wherein a width of the proximal member is greater than a width of a portion of the guide tube that is distal to the proximal member. 6. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein the guide tube is configured for trans-oral insertion. 7. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein the body fully encloses the second channel between proximal and distal openings of the second channel. 8. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein a distalmost surface of the body includes a distal opening of the first channel and a distal opening of the second channel. 9. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein the guide tube further includes a tool, and wherein the tool is configured to extend distally past the distal end of the body of the guide tube. 10. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein the first channel includes a distal opening, wherein the distal opening is proximal to the distal end of the body. 11. The medical system of claim 1 , wherein a cross-section of the guide tube is circular. 12. A medical system comprising: a tool including an end effector at a distal end of the tool; and a guide tube including a body extending from a proximal end to a distal end, wherein the body includes: a channel extending from the proximal end to the distal end, wherein the channel includes a first opening that extends throughout a side of the body so that the channel is exposed from the proximal end to the distal end, and wherein the channel is configured to receive the tool; a lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end, wherein the lumen includes a second opening extending along the side of the body from the proximal end to the distal end so that the lumen is exposed, wherein the lumen is separate from the channel; and an optical device integrally formed with the guide tube, wherein the optical device is configured for viewing in a patient, wherein the body is rigid and has a pre-formed shape having at least one change in direction along a length of the body. 13. The medical system of claim 12 , wherein the first opening is configured to allow for insertion or removal of the tool through the side of the channel. 14. The medical system of claim 12 , wherein an entirety of the guide tube is rigid, and the guide tube includes a curved section. 15. The medical system of claim 12 , wherein the guide tube further includes a proximal member at the proximal end, wherein a width of the proximal member is greater than a width of a portion of the guide tube that is distal to the proximal member. 16. The medical system of claim 12 , wherein the lumen extends alongside the channel. 17. The medical system of claim 12 , wherein the body fully encloses the lumen between proximal and distal openings of the lumen. 18. The medical system of claim 12 , wherein the optical device is disposed in the lumen. 19. The medical system of claim 12 , wherein a distalmost surface of the body includes a distal opening of the channel and a distal opening of the lumen.
