Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An improved roller shade system provides increased support, additional adjustments and/or increased safety. The slip plate allows the brake to slip forward and minimize damage to the clutch spring when a user pulls too hard on the hembar. The center drive mechanism extends through a bracket to allow the drive shaft to distribute power in both directions and drive two shade tube simultaneously. The tube adapter absorbs force from the spinning shade tube to minimize damage to the other components and the bead chain. The sprocket has a back wall supporting the sprocket, allowing the sprocket 130 to rest on the back flange of the sun gear to minimize pressure on the gears. An adjustment arm is adjusted to help level the shade band. The shade bands may be removed without disturbing the other shade bands in the system. A height of a hembar may be adjusted by rotating a rod within the hembar.

First claim

We claim: 1. A support connector system comprising: a first shaft configured to be received into a first shade band; and a second shaft configured to be received into a second shade band, wherein the first shaft is configured to retract out of the first shade band by the first shaft moving out of the first shade band and being received into the second shade band, and wherein the first shaft is configured to be received into the second shaft. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first shaft supports the first shade band and the second shaft supports the second shade band. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first shade band is not restricted and is removable from the support connector, in response to the first shaft of the support connector retracting out of the first shade band. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first shaft of the support connector controls a first drive hub that rotates the first shade band and the second shaft of the support connector controls a second drive hub that rotates the second shade band. 5. The system of claim 1 , further comprising: the first shaft of the support connector extending from a first side of a bracket and the second shaft of the support connector extending from a second side of the bracket; a drive mechanism received by the first shaft of the support connector; and a chain around a sprocket of the drive mechanism. 6. The system of claim 5 , wherein in response to the chain being pulled, rotational force is transferred to the first shade band on the first side of the bracket and to the second shade band on the second side of the bracket. 7. The system of claim 5 , wherein the sprocket drives in parallel the first shade band and the second shade band. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first shade band is driven by a drive mechanism, and wherein the drive mechanism is engaged by a slip plate, wherein the drive mechanism rotates forward in response to the slip plate disengaging from the drive mechanism. 9. The system of claim 1 , further comprising: a bracket having a first side and a second side; a drive shaft having a first portion that extends from the first side of the bracket; the drive shaft having a second portion that extends from the second side of the bracket; the drive mechanism received by the drive shaft; a chain around a sprocket of the drive mechanism; the first shade band engaged with the first portion of the drive shaft; and the second shade band engaged with the second portion of the drive shaft. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the first portion of the drive shaft controls a first drive hub that rotates the first shade band and the second portion of the drive shaft controls a second drive hub that rotates the second shade band. 11. The system of claim 9 , wherein in response to the chain being pulled, rotational force is transferred to the first shade band on the first side of the bracket and to the second shade band on the second side of the bracket. 12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the sprocket drives in parallel the first shade band and the second shade band. 13. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a lock, wherein the lock is configured to restrict the first shade band from unrolling. 14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the lock includes a first opening that allows rotation of the first shade band and a second opening that restricts rotation of the first shade band. 15. The system of claim 13 , wherein the lock is a slide lock. 16. The system of claim 13 , wherein the lock is a slide lock that includes a first opening that allows rotation of the first shade band and a second opening that restricts rotation of the first shade band. 17. The system of claim 1 , further comprising: an adjustment arm having a first portion, a middle portion and a second portion, wherein the middle portion of the adjustment arm engages at least one of the first shaft of the support connector or the first shade band; and an adjustment screw engaging a first portion of the adjustment arm, wherein in response to turning the adjustment screw, the adjustment arm is configured to rotate and adjust at least one of the first shaft of the support connector or the first shade band. 18. The system of claim 1 , further comprising: shade fabric coupled to the first shade band, wherein the shade fabric has a first portion and a second portion; a rod that includes a portion of the shade fabric rolled around the rod; and a hembar engaging the rod within the hembar, wherein turning the rod adjusts a position of the hembar relative to the shade fabric. 19. A support connector system comprising: a first shaft configured to be received into a first shade band; and a second shaft configured to be received into a second shade band, wherein the first shaft is configured to retract out of the first shade band by the first shaft moving out of the first shade band and being received into the second shade band, and wherein the first shade band is removable from the support connector, in response to the first shaft of the support connector retracting out of the first shade band. 20. A support connector system comprising: a first shaft configured to be received into a first shade band; a second shaft configured to be received into a second shade band; a bracket having a first side and a second side, wherein the first shade band is configured to be supported by the first side of the bracket and the second shade band is configured to be supported by the second side of the bracket, and wherein the first shaft is configured to retract out of the first shade band by the first shaft moving out of the first shade band and being received into the second shade band.
