This application relates to a cordless power tool system including a set of cordless power tools, a set of rechargeable and removable battery packs, and a set of battery pack chargers.

The invention claimed is: 1. A power tool comprising: a housing; and a battery receptacle formed in the housing or coupled to the housing, the battery receptacle capable of receiving, along a receiving axis, a first battery pack having a first latching location and a second battery pack having a second latching location, the battery receptacle comprising a power terminal block and at least one guide rail for guiding the first battery pack and the second battery pack along the receiving axis so as to make an electrical connection with the power terminal block and a multi-latch mechanism having a first interface element along the receiving axis configured to engage the latching location of the first battery pack when receiving the first battery pack and having a second interface element on the receiving axis configured to engage the latching location of the second battery pack when receiving the second battery pack. 2. The power tool of claim 1 , wherein, along the receiving axis, the first latching location is closer to the power terminal block than is the second latching location. 3. The power tool of claim 1 , wherein the first interface element includes a first latch hook pivotable around a first pivot member and the second interface element includes a second latch hook pivotable around a second pivot member. 4. The power tool of claim 1 , wherein the first battery pack comprises a pocket at the first latching location. 5. The power tool of claim 1 , wherein the second battery pack comprises a translating latch at the second latching location moveable via an actuator in a direction perpendicular to a receiving axis of the second battery pack.
