A method is disclosed for treating an anodized metal surface. According to the method, polynuclear clusters comprising aluminum oxide hydroxide are applied to the anodized metal surface.
Opening claim text (preview).
What is claimed is: 1. An article comprising: a metal body; an anodized surface on said metal body; and polynuclear clusters comprising aluminum oxide hydroxide, disposed on said anodized surface, wherein the polynuclear aluminum oxide hydroxide clusters comprise complexes according to the formula: [AlO 4 Al 12 (OH) 24 (H 2 O) 12 ] 7+ *[(7/n) X −n ] 7− where X −n represents ‘−n’ charge-bearing X counter-ion species and (7/n) X −n are needed to neutralize the total complex charge. 2. The article of claim 1 , further comprising a coagulant different than the polynuclear aluminum oxide hydroxide clusters disposed on the anodized surface.
