Official abstract text for this publication.
A washing machine includes a cabinet including an entrance which is formed in a front surface of the cabinet such that laundry is input into or output from the entrance, a tub mounted inside the cabinet, a drum received in the tub and rotatably provided, a motor to provide driving force to rotate the drum, and a vibration sensor to sense vibration of the tub.

What is claimed is: 1. A control method for controlling a washing machine, the washing machine including a cabinet that defines an entrance at a front surface of the cabinet configured to insert and withdraw laundry therethrough, a tub disposed inside the cabinet, a drum disposed in the tub and configured to rotate relative to the tub, a motor configured to generate driving force for rotating the drum, a vibration sensor configured to sense vibration of the tub, and a controller configured to control one or more operating modes for washing of laundry, the control method comprising: performing a tumble motion mode in which the drum is rotated at a preset rotational speed to rinse laundry received in the drum; determining a stabilization time point at which a variation of a rotational speed of the motor is within a predetermined range; acquiring, by the controller, vibration data sensed by the vibration sensor after the stabilization time point; measuring a weight of laundry received in the drum, and determining a cloth amount level that is defined based on a range of the weight of laundry; and determining a volume of laundry received in the drum based on the cloth amount level and the vibration data. 2. The control method of claim 1 , wherein acquiring the vibration data comprises calculating an average vibration value based on the vibration data. 3. The control method of claim 2 , wherein determining the volume of laundry comprises: calculating a volume value based on matching information stored in a non-transitory memory, and wherein the matching information comprises the volume value that corresponds to the average vibration value and that was determined based on the cloth amount level. 4. The control method of claim 3 , wherein the volume value in the matching information has a normalized value in a range from zero to one. 5. The control method of claim 1 , further comprising: determining a normalized value of the volume of laundry between 0 and 1; determining, from a data table stored in a memory, a range of an allowable cloth dispersion value using the normalized value of the volume of laundry; performing a cloth dispersion mode in which the drum is rotated to distribute laundry inside the drum; determining whether the variation of the rotational speed of the motor is within the range of the allowable cloth dispersion value; and terminating the cloth dispersion mode based on determining that variation of the rotational speed of the motor is within the range of the allowable cloth dispersion value. 6. The control method of claim 5 , further comprising: performing a dehydration mode after terminating the cloth dispersion mode. 7. The control method of claim 1 , wherein performing the tumble motion mode comprises repeating the tumble motion mode multiple times. 8. The control method of claim 1 , wherein the vibration sensor is mounted on a rear end side of an outer circumference of the tub. 9. The control method of claim 1 , further comprising: determining an acquisition duration for which the vibration data is acquired after the stabilization time point; and stopping performance of the tumble motion mode based on an elapse of the acquisition duration. 10. The control method of claim 9 , wherein acquiring the vibration data comprises calculating an average vibration value of vibration data measured during the acquisition duration. 11. The control method of claim 9 , wherein performing the tumble motion mode comprises performing the tumble motion mode multiple times, and wherein acquiring the vibration data is performed for each tumble motion performed multiple times. 12. The control method of claim 5 , wherein performing the cloth dispersion mode comprises: accelerating the drum to a laundry adhering speed determined according to the weight of laundry. 13. The control method of claim 1 , further comprising: draining water from the tub based on completion of performance of the tumble motion mode, wherein measuring the weight of laundry is performed after draining water from the tub.
