What is claimed: 1. A THF-free primer formulation for use with solvent cements, wherein the primer formulation consists of: cyclopentanone in an amount of 30 wt % to 50 wt % based on the total weight of the formulation; 40% to 55% acetone based on the total weight of the formulation, at least one additional organic solvent selected from the group consisting of methyl ethyl ketone, cyclohexanone, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, and mixtures thereof; optionally, one or more fillers or additives; and optionally, a colorant composition; wherein the primer formulation is configured to bond components having resin-based surfaces and is capable of dissolving at least 10% of the resin-based surfaces. 2. A THF-free primer formulation for use with solvent cements to bond components having a resin-based surface, wherein the primer formulation consists of: cyclopentanone in an amount of 45 wt % based on the total weight of the formulation; up to 55% acetone based on the total weight of the formulation; and a colorant composition; wherein the primer formulation is configured to dissolve at least 10% of the resin-based surface. 3. A THF-free primer formulation for use with solvent cements to bond components having a resin-based surface, wherein the primer formulation consists of: cyclopentanone in an amount of 40 wt % based on the total weight of the formulation; up to 40% acetone based on the total weight of the formulation; up to 20% methyl ethyl ketone, and a colorant composition; wherein the primer formulation is configured to dissolve at least 10% of the resin-based surface.
