Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A wheel suspension and transmission gear assembly may include: a main arm pivotally connectable at a connection point of the main arm to a shaft point of a wheel; a first linkage unit pivotally connected at its first end to the main arm; and a second linkage unit pivotally connected at its first end to the main arm such that at least a portion of the main arm is between the first linkage unit and the second linkage unit and such that a second end of the first linkage unit and a second end of the second linkage unit are at opposing sides of the main arm with respect to each other; wherein (i) the main arm and (ii) the first linkage unit or the second linkage unit each may include: a first gear and a second gear pivotally connected thereto and interconnected to transmit rotational motion between each other.

The invention claimed is: 1. A wheel suspension and transmission gear assembly, comprising: a first linkage unit comprising: a first gear couplable to an input shaft and being a first gear in the transmission gear assembly, and a second gear coupled to the first gear to transmit rotational motion between each other; a main arm pivotally connected to the first linkage, the main arm comprising: a first gear being rotatable by the second gear of the first linkage unit, and a second gear couplable to an output shaft and coupled to the first gear of the main arm to transmit rotational motion between each other, the second gear of the main arm being a last gear in the transmission gear assembly; and a second linkage unit pivotally connected to the main arm such that at least a portion of the main arm is between the first linkage unit and the second linkage unit. 2. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein at least one of: the first gear and the second gear of the first linkage unit are indirectly coupled to each other; and the first gear and the second gear of the main arm are indirectly coupled to each other. 3. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first linkage unit and the main arm comprises one of a drive belt or a drive chain to transmit rotation of the respective first gear to the respective second gear. 4. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first linkage unit and the main arm comprises an odd number of meshed gears to transmit rotation of the respective first gear to the respective second gear. 5. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second gear of the first linkage unit is a last gear of the first linkage unit. 6. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second gear of the first linkage unit and the first gear of the main arm are rotatable together about a common axis. 7. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first gear and the second gear of the first linkage unit are disposed in a first plane, and the first gear and the second gear of the main arm are disposed in a second plane that is substantially parallel to and offset from the first plane. 8. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first linkage unit and the main arm having a transmission ration of 1:1 between the respective first gear and the respective second gear. 9. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein when the input shaft is powered, a total torque exerted on at least one of the first linkage unit and the main arm is substantially zero. 10. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein a relative angle between the first linkage unit and the main arm changes independently of rotation of the first gear and the second gear of the first linkage unit and the main arm. 11. A wheel suspension and transmission gear assembly, comprising: a first linkage unit comprising: a first gear couplable to an input shaft, and a second gear coupled to the first gear to transmit rotational motion between each other; a main arm pivotally connected the first linkage unit, the main arm comprising: a first gear being rotatable by the second gear of the first linkage unit, and a second gear couplable to an output shaft and coupled to the first gear of the main arm to transmit rotational motion between each other, the first gear of the first linkage unit and the second gear of the main arm being rotatable in the same direction; and a second linkage unit pivotally connected to the main arm such that at least a portion of the main arm is between the first linkage unit and the second linkage unit. 12. The assembly of claim 11 , wherein at least one of: the first gear and the second gear of the first linkage unit are indirectly coupled to each other; and the first gear and the second gear of the main arm are indirectly coupled to each other. 13. The assembly of claim 11 , wherein at least one of the first linkage unit and the main arm comprises a drive belt or a drive chain to transmit rotation of the respective first gear to the respective second gear. 14. The assembly of claim 11 , wherein at least one of the first linkage unit and the main arm comprises an odd number of meshed gears to transmit rotation of the respective first gear to the respective second gear. 15. The assembly of claim 11 , wherein the second gear of the first linkage unit is a last gear of the first linkage unit. 16. The assembly of claim 11 , wherein the second gear of the main arm is a last gear of the main arm. 17. The assembly of claim 11 , wherein the first gear and the second gear of the first linkage unit are disposed in a first plane, and the first gear and the second gear of the main arm are disposed in a second plane that is substantially parallel to and offset from the first plane. 18. The assembly of claim 11 , wherein at least one of the first linkage unit and the main arm having a transmission ration of 1:1 between the respective first gear and the respective second gear. 19. The assembly of claim 11 , wherein when the input shaft is powered, a total torque being exerted on at least one of the first linkage unit and the main arm is substantially zero. 20. The assembly of claim 11 , wherein a relative angle between the first linkage unit and the main arm changes independently of rotation of the first gear and the second gear of the first linkage unit and the main arm.
