Methods are described for creating a correspondence between percentages of a spot color and print material thicknesses. For example, a method can include printing a set of printed regions on a substrate, wherein each printed region is printed according to a different percentage of a selected spot color. The method can further comprise measuring the thickness of each printed region. The method can further comprise comparing the thickness of each printed region with a target thickness for the printed region. The target thickness for the printed region can be determined according to the percentage of the selected spot color used for printing the printed region. The method can further comprise, for each target thickness, determining an adjusted spot color percentage required to print a layer of structural print material having the target thickness.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method of comprising: printing a set of printed regions on a substrate, each printed region being printed according to a different percentage of a selected spot color; measuring the thickness of each printed region; comparing the thickness of each printed region with a target thickness for the printed region, the target thickness for the printed region being determined according to the percentage of the selected spot color used for printing the printed region; and for each target thickness, determining an adjusted spot color percentage required to print a layer of structural print material having the target thickness. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises, after determining the adjusted spot color percentage required to print the layer of structural print material having the target thickness, generating a corrected table of adjusted spot color percentages. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the corrected table of adjusted spot color percentages comprises a look-up table stored in a database accessible by a printing system. 4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the method further comprises, after generating the corrected table of adjusted spot color percentages, selecting at least one adjusted spot color percentage from the corrected table for printing a three-dimensional structure, wherein the three-dimensional structure comprises a layer of structural print material having at least one target layer thickness. 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein selecting the at least one adjusted spot color percentage from the corrected table comprises selecting one adjusted spot color percentage corresponding to each of the at least one target layer thicknesses of the three-dimensional structure. 6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the method further comprises, after selecting the at least one adjusted spot color percentage from the corrected table, printing the three-dimensional structure using the selected adjusted spot color percentage. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the spot color is grey. 8. A method comprising: determining a set of target thicknesses; determining an initial set of spot color percentages, wherein each initial spot color percentage corresponds to one target thickness in the set of target thicknesses; printing a set of printed regions on a substrate, wherein each printed region corresponds to one target thickness in the set of target thicknesses and one initial spot color percentage in the initial set of spot color percentages; measuring a layer thickness of each printed region; comparing the layer thickness of each printed region with the corresponding target thickness; and for each target thickness in the set of target thicknesses, determining an adjusted spot color percentage for printing a layer of structural print material having the target thickness. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the set of target thicknesses is determined based on input provided by a user. 10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the set of target thicknesses is determined based on a calculation by a computer. 11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the set of target thicknesses and the corresponding set of initial spot color percentages have a linear relationship. 12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the set of initial spot color percentages comprises at least twenty initial spot color percentages. 13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the set of initial spot color percentages comprises a set of regularly increasing spot color percentages. 14. The method of claim 8 , wherein each target thickness corresponds to a different initial spot color percentage. 15. The method of claim 8 , wherein the set of printed regions are regions of a single printed layer.
