A method of using a masking device to mask a portion of a gas turbine engine component for an electroplating process is provided. The masking device includes a main body having sidewalls, a removeable coverplate having an end plate and one or more locking tabs, a fastener located at least partially within the main body, and a shank engaged with the fastener. The method includes placing the gas turbine engine component through an opening in the main body such that the component is held within the main body by a retention slot. The method includes sliding the one or more locking tabs of the removeable coverplate through the opening in the main body such that the removeable coverplate covers the opening of the main body. The method includes securing the one or more locking tabs in one or more relief slots in the sidewalls of the main body.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of using a masking device to mask a portion of a gas turbine engine component for an electroplating process, the masking device comprising a main body having sidewalls, and a removeable coverplate having an end plate and one or more locking tabs, the method comprising: sliding the gas turbine engine component longitudinally through a retention slot defining an opening in the main body such that the gas turbine engine component is retained within the main body by the retention slot, the opening being perpendicular to the sidewalls; sliding the one or more locking tabs of the removeable coverplate longitudinally through the retention slot in the main body such that the removeable coverplate covers the opening of the main body; and securing the one or more locking tabs in the sidewalls of the main body. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the masking device includes a polymer material. 3. The method of claim 1 , including fabricating at least one of: the main body and the removable coverplate, and using an additive manufacturing process. 4. The method of claim 1 , further including a shank, wherein at least a portion of the shank is cylindrical. 5. The method of claim 4 , further including a fastener located at least partially within the main body, wherein the shank is engaged within the fastener by a threaded engagement. 6. The method of claim 5 , including rotating the fastener relative to the shank to draw the shank into contact with the gas turbine engine component. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the gas turbine engine component is a blade and the retention slot includes a retention slot profile, wherein the retention slot profile corresponds to a profile of the blade. 8. The method of claim 1 , including electroplating at least a part of the gas turbine engine component while the gas turbine engine component is held within the main body. 9. The method of claim 1 , including coupling the masking device to another masking device. 10. The method of claim 4 , wherein the shank comprises a conductive material. 11. The method of claim 4 , wherein the shank has an asymmetric profile. 12. A method of using a masking device to mask a portion of a gas turbine engine component for an electroplating process, the masking device comprising a main body having sidewalls, a removeable coverplate having an end plate and one or more locking tabs, a fastener located at least partially within the main body, and a shank engaged with the fastener, the method comprising: sliding the gas turbine engine component longitudinally through a retention slot defining an opening in the main body such that the gas turbine engine component is retained within the main body by the retention slot, the opening being perpendicular to the sidewalls; sliding the one or more locking tabs of the removeable coverplate longitudinally through the retention slot in the main body such that the removeable coverplate covers the opening of the main body; securing the one or more locking tabs in the sidewalls of the main body; and rotating the fastener relative to the shank such that the shank is drawn into contact with the gas turbine engine component; wherein, the shank is engaged with the fastener by way of a threaded engagement. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein at least one of the main body, the removable coverplate, and the fastener includes a polymer material. 14. The method of claim 12 , including fabricating at least one of the main body, the removable coverplate, and the fastener using an additive process. 15. A method of masking a gas turbine component for electroplating using a masking device, the method comprising: sliding the gas turbine component longitudinally through a retention slot defining an opening in a main body of the masking device wherein the gas turbine component is retained within the main body by the retention slot, the opening being perpendicular to sidewalls of the main body; sliding a locking tab of a removable coverplate through the retention slot defining the opening of the main body to retain the coverplate to the main body; and securing the locking tab in the sidewalls of the main body. 16. The method of claim 15 , including coupling the masking device to another masking device using a mounting rod. 17. The method of claim 15 , wherein a fastener is located at least partially within the main body and a shank is engaged with the fastener. 18. The method of claim 15 , wherein at least a portion of the masking device is fabricated using an additive material. 19. The method of claim 15 , wherein the gas turbine component is a turbine blade. 20. The method of claim 15 , including slidably removing the coverplate from the main body, wherein the coverplate is slidably removed from the main body using a pull tab of the cover plate.
