Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods for dynamically assessing vehicle operation are described. According to certain aspects, an electronic device may accumulate telematics data associated with operation of a vehicle, where the telematics data indicates a location of the vehicle. The electronic device may retrieve additional telematics data of additional vehicles operating at or near the location, and compare the accumulated telematics data to the additional telematics data. The electronic device may dynamically generate and display a data visualization indicating the analysis for review by an operator of the vehicle.

What is claimed is: 1. A computer-implemented method for assessing vehicle operation, the method comprising: collecting, by a computing device, a set of telematics data associated with a vehicle and an additional set of telematics data associated with an additional set of a plurality of vehicles within a threshold distance of the vehicle; comparing, by the computing device, at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and at least one corresponding parameter of the additional set of telematics data to calculate a degree of deviation between the at least one parameter and the at least one corresponding parameter, wherein the at least one parameter includes at least one of speed, acceleration, braking or turning; and displaying, by the computing device, an indication of the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data associated with the vehicle to an operator of the vehicle and an indication of the degree of deviation to the operator of the vehicle to assess an operation of the vehicle relative to operations of the additional set of the plurality of vehicles. 2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising: collecting a set of information associated with a location of the vehicle; and displaying a portion of the set of information associated with the location of the vehicle. 3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein: comparing the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and the at least one corresponding parameter of the additional set of telematics data to calculate the degree of deviation further includes determining that the degree of deviation does not meet a threshold value; and displaying the indication of the degree of deviation further includes displaying a compliance indication to the operator of the vehicle. 4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein: comparing the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and the at least one corresponding parameter of the additional set of telematics data to calculate the degree of deviation further includes determining that the degree of deviation meets a threshold value; and displaying the indication of the degree of deviation further includes displaying a warning indication to the operator of the vehicle. 5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising: collecting a set of information associated with a location of the vehicle; and determining whether to display a warning indication based upon the degree of deviation and the set of information. 6. The computer-implemented method of claim 5 , wherein determining whether to display the warning indication is based upon a degree of regulation deviation calculated between the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and a regulation associated with the operation of the vehicle at the location of the vehicle. 7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein displaying the indication of the degree of deviation further includes displaying a data visualization indicating the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data, the at least one corresponding parameter of the additional set of telematics data, and the degree of deviation. 8. The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein displaying the data visualization includes displaying a visual data distribution indicating the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data relative to the at least one corresponding parameter of the additional set of telematics data. 9. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising: sending a request for the additional set of telematics data, the request including the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and a location of the vehicle; and receiving the additional set of telematics data according to the request. 10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein comparing the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and the at least one corresponding parameter of the additional set of telematics data to calculate the degree of deviation further includes generating a set of analysis data based upon the comparison. 11. A computing device for assessing vehicle operation, the computing device comprising: a processor; and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: collect a set of telematics data associated with a vehicle and an additional set of telematics data associated with an additional set of a plurality of vehicles within a threshold distance of the vehicle; compare at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and at least one corresponding parameter of the additional set of telematics data to calculate a degree of deviation between the at least one parameter and the at least one corresponding parameter, wherein the at least one parameter includes at least one of speed, acceleration, braking or turning; and display an indication of the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data associated with the vehicle to an operator of the vehicle and an indication of the degree of deviation to the operator of the vehicle to assess an operation of the vehicle relative to operations of the additional set of the plurality of the vehicles. 12. The computing device of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further configured to: access a set of information associated with a location of the vehicle; and cause a user interface to display at least a portion of the set of information associated with the location of the vehicle. 13. The computing device of claim 11 , wherein: the instructions, when executed by the processor, that cause the processor to compare the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and the at least one corresponding parameter of the additional set of telematics data to calculate the degree of deviation further include instructions that cause the processor to determine that the degree of deviation does not meet a threshold value; and the instructions, when executed by the processor, that cause the processor to display the indication of the degree of deviation further include instructions that cause the processor to display a compliance indication to the operator of the vehicle. 14. The computing device of claim 11 , wherein: the instructions, when executed by the processor, that cause the processor to compare the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and the at least one corresponding parameter of the additional set of telematics data to calculate the degree of deviation further include instructions that cause the processor to determine that the degree of deviation meets a threshold value; and the instructions, when executed by the processor, that cause the processor to display the indication of the degree of deviation further include instructions that cause the processor to display a warning indication to the operator of the vehicle. 15. The computing device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to: collect a set of information associated with a location of the vehicle; and determine whether to display a warning indication based upon the degree of deviation and the set of information. 16. The computing device of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, that cause the processor to determine whether to display the warning indication is based upon a degree of regulation deviation calculated between the at least one parameter of the set of telematics data and a regulation associated with the operation of the vehicle at the
