Official abstract text for this publication.
A cable management system includes multiple cables, each having a unique identifier associated therewith and each including first and second barcodes including the unique identifier, the first barcode located proximate a first end of the cable, the second barcode located proximate a second end of the cable. The system also includes a barcode scanner to scan barcodes of the cables, the barcode scanner including a clip to receive one of the cables. The system also includes a mobile computing device having a processor, data storage medium, communication unit, and user interface including a display. The mobile computing device is configured to receive via the user interface first end location information for a first cable, receive from the barcode scanner the first barcode of the first cable, and save and display the first end location information in association with the unique identifier of the first cable included in the first barcode.

What is claimed is: 1. A machine-readable memory storage device configured to be in communication with a processor, the machine-readable memory storage device comprising: processor-executable instructions configured to, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: receive, via inputs to a user interface, a first install location for a first cable; receive, via a detection device, a first identifier for the first cable; associate the first identifier to the first install location; display, within a first install location field included on the user interface, the first identifier to associate with the first install location; and increment, on the user interface, to a second install location field; receive, via inputs to the user interface, a second install location for a second cable; receive, via the detection device, a second identifier for the second cable; associate the second identifier to the second install location; and display, within the second install location field included on the user interface, the second identifier to associate with the second install location. 2. The machine-readable memory storage device of claim 1 , wherein the first identifier is located at a predetermined location measured from an end of the first cable. 3. The machine-readable memory storage device of claim 1 , wherein the first identifier corresponds to at least one of cable attribute information, cable spool information, cable length information, or cable production data for the first cable. 4. The machine-readable memory storage device of claim 1 , further comprising processor-executable instructions configured to, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: communicate, via an interface, with a remote computing device; and receive, via the interface, information corresponding to the first cable from the remote computing device. 5. The machine-readable memory storage device of claim 1 , wherein the detection device is a barcode scanner. 6. The machine-readable memory storage device of claim 1 , wherein the first identifier is a machine-readable identifier. 7. The machine-readable memory storage device of claim 6 , wherein the first identifier is a barcode or QR code. 8. The machine-readable memory storage device of claim 1 , wherein the first identifier is identifiable using image recognition by the detection device. 9. The machine-readable memory storage device of claim 1 , wherein the first identifier is an alpha-numeric code. 10. A machine-readable memory storage device configured to be in communication with a processor, the machine-readable memory storage device comprising: processor-executable instructions configured to, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: receive, via inputs to a user interface, a first install location for a first cable; receive, via a detection device, a first identifier for the first cable; associate the first identifier to the first install location; display, within a first install location field included on the user interface, the first identifier to associate with the first install location; and increment, on the user interface, to a second install location field for receiving a second install location where a first end of a second cable is installed; receive, via inputs to the user interface, a first opposite end install location for the first cable; receive, from the detection device, the first identifier for the first cable obtained from another instance of the first identifier printed on the first cable; associate the first identifier to the first opposite end install location; display, within a first opposite end install location field included on the user interface, the first identifier to associate with the first opposite end install location; and increment, on the user interface, to a second opposite end install location field corresponding to an installation location for a second end of the second cable. 11. A mobile computing device comprising: a processor; and a machine-readable memory storage device configured to be in communication with the processor, the machine-readable memory storage device storing processor-executable instructions configured to, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: receive, via inputs to a user interface, a first install location for a first cable; receive, via a detection device, a first identifier for the first cable; associate the first identifier to the first install location; display, within a first install location field included on the user interface, the first identifier to associate with the first install location; and increment, on the user interface, to a second install location field; receive, via inputs to the user interface, a second install location for a second cable; receive, via the detection device, a second identifier for the second cable; associate the second identifier to the second install location; and display, within a second install location field included on the user interface, the second identifier to associate with the second install location. 12. The mobile computing device of claim 11 , wherein the first identifier is located at a predetermined location measured from an end of the first cable. 13. The mobile computing device of claim 11 , wherein the first identifier is used to identify at least one of cable attribute information, cable spool information, cable length information, or cable production data. 14. The mobile computing device of claim 11 , the machine-readable memory storage device further storing processor-executable instructions configured to, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: communicate, via an interface, with a remote computing device; and receive, via the interface, information corresponding to the first cable from the remote computing device. 15. The mobile computing device of claim 11 , wherein the detection device is a barcode scanner. 16. The mobile computing device of claim 11 , wherein the first identifier is a machine-readable identifier. 17. The mobile computing device of claim 16 , wherein the first identifier is a barcode or QR code. 18. The mobile computing device of claim 11 , wherein the first identifier is identifiable using image recognition by the detection device. 19. The mobile computing device of claim 11 , wherein the first identifier is an alpha-numeric code. 20. A mobile computing device comprising: a processor; and a machine-readable memory storage device configured to be in communication with the processor, the machine-readable memory storage device storing processor-executable instructions configured to, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: receive, via inputs to a user interface, a first install location for a first cable; receive, via a detection device, a first identifier for the first cable; associate the first identifier to the first install location; display, within a first install location field included on the user interface, the first identifier to associate with the first install location; and increment, on the user interface, to a second install location field for receiving a second install location where a first end of a second cable is installed; receive, via inputs to the user interface, a first opposite end install location for the first cable; receive, from the detection device, the first identifier for the first cable obtained from another instance of the first identifier printed on the first cable; associate t
