Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods for providing audio-file loop-playback functionality are provided. The system includes a processor that performs a method including setting a playback loop start-point based on a first selection of a button; setting a loop end-point, associating a loop with an audio file, and entering into the loop based on a second selection of the button; and exiting the loop based on a third selection of the button. Associating the loop with the audio file includes adding metadata to the audio file. The metadata associates the loop with a button. The method includes reentering the loop based on a fourth selection of the button and exiting the loop based on a fifth selection of the button.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A DJ media player comprising: a user interface having a plurality of loop buttons; a memory for storing one or more audio files; and at least one processor operatively coupled to the user interface and the memory and configured to: receive, through the user interface, metadata defining a plurality of different playback loops each associated with a portion of an audio file; add the metadata defining the plurality of different playback loops to the audio file, wherein the metadata comprises information for recreating the plurality of different playback loops; when the audio file is reloaded for playback, recall the metadata defining the plurality of different playback loops from the audio file; and enable control of the plurality of different playback loops during a subsequent playback of the audio file by associating the metadata defining each one of the plurality of different playback loops with a different one of the plurality of loop buttons. 2. The DJ media player of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to receive first metadata defining a first playback loop through a first of the plurality of loop buttons of the user interface. 3. The DJ media player of claim 2 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to enable control of the first playback loop by associating the first metadata defining the first playback loop with the first of the plurality of loop buttons. 4. The DJ media player of claim 2 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to enable control of the first playback loop by associating the first metadata defining the first playback loop with a second of the plurality of loop buttons. 5. The DJ media player of claim 1 , wherein the metadata defining the plurality of different playback loops comprises any of playback loop start-points and playback loop end-points. 6. The DJ media player of claim 1 , wherein the metadata is added to the audio file when a loop of the plurality of different playback loops is created and the metadata includes a loop name, a loop start-point, a loop end-point, and a button assignment indicating a button of the plurality of loop buttons that the loop is assigned to. 7. A method for use with a DJ media player having a user interface having a plurality of loop buttons and a memory for storing one or more audio files, the method comprising: receiving, through the user interface, metadata defining a plurality of different playback loops each associated with a portion of an audio file; adding the metadata defining the plurality of different playback loops to the audio file, wherein the metadata comprises information for recreating the plurality of different playback loops; when the audio file is reloaded for playback, recalling the metadata defining the plurality of different playback loops from the audio file; and enabling control of the plurality of different playback loops during a subsequent playback of the audio file by associating the metadata defining each one of the plurality of different playback loops with a different one of the plurality of loop buttons. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein control of a first playback loop is enabled by associating first metadata defining the first playback loop with a first of the plurality of loop buttons. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein control of the first playback loop is enabled by associating the first metadata defining the first playback loop with a second of the plurality of loop buttons. 10. The method of claim 7 , wherein the metadata defining the plurality of different playback loops comprises any of playback loop start-points and playback loop end-points. 11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the metadata is added to the audio file when a loop of the plurality of different playback loops is created and the metadata includes a loop name, a loop start-point, a loop end-point, and a button assignment indicating a button of the plurality of loop buttons that the loop is assigned to.
