Official abstract text for this publication.
An industrial development hub (IDH) supports industrial development and testing capabilities that are offered as a cloud-based service. The IDH comprises an enhanced storage platform and associated design tools that serve as a repository on which customers can store control project code, device configurations, and other digital aspects of an industrial automation project. The IDH system can facilitate discovery and management of digital content associated with control systems, and can be used for system backup and restore, code conversion, and version management.

What is claimed is: 1. A system, comprising: a memory that stores executable components; and a processor, operatively coupled to the memory, that executes the executable components, the executable components comprising: a user interface component configured to receive, via a cloud platform, an industrial control project comprising at least control programming and device configuration data that, in response to execution on one or more industrial devices, facilitate monitoring and control of an industrial automation system; a project telemetry component configured to, in response to receipt of the industrial control project, generate project telemetry data for the industrial control project, the project telemetry data defining characteristics of the one or more industrial devices and predicted operating characteristics of the industrial control project inferred based on the analysis of the industrial control project; and a project analysis component configured to, in response to receipt of the industrial control project by the user interface component, perform an analysis on the project telemetry data and generate, based on a result of the analysis, a recommendation for modifying the industrial control project in a manner that improves one or more of the predicted operating characteristics. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the project telemetry component is configured to determine, as a portion of the project telemetry data, an inventory of the one or more industrial devices used in the industrial control project, determine other industrial assets included in the industrial automation system based on analysis of device configuration data for the one or more industrial devices, and add identities of the other industrial assets to the project telemetry data. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation comprises at least one of a recommended replacement or reconfiguration of an industrial device to reduce an amount of memory or processing resources consumed by the industrial control project, a recommended replacement or reconfiguration for the industrial device to increase an I/O capacity for the control project, a recommendation to utilize a currently unused feature of the industrial device to improve a performance metric of the industrial control project, or a recommended reconfiguration of the industrial control project to increase an expected lifespan of the industrial device. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the project analysis component is configured to generate the recommendation based in part on a digital device model stored on a vendor-specific repository of the cloud platform and corresponding to the industrial device, and the digital device profile defines functional specifications for the industrial device. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the analysis is a first analysis, and the project analysis component is further configured to, in response to receipt of the industrial control project by the user interface component, perform a second analysis on the industrial control project, and generate a notification in response to determining, based on a result of the second analysis, that the industrial control project deviates from a defined design standard in excess of a defined degree. 6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the defined design standards are at least one of plant-specific designs standards stored on a customer repository or industry-specific designs standards stored on a knowledgebase of the cloud platform. 7. The system of claim 1 , further comprising an asset recovery component configured to archive, on a customer repository of the cloud platform designated to an owner of the industrial control project, the industrial control project in association with previous versions of the industrial control project. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the asset recovery component is further configured to receive, via the cloud platform, a backup of at least one of control programming, device configuration parameter settings, or human-machine interface (HMI) applications stored on the one or more industrial devices, and to archive the backup on the customer repository in association with the previous versions of the industrial control project. 9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the analysis is a first analysis, and the project analysis component is further configured to, in response to receipt of the industrial control project by the user interface component, perform a second analysis on the industrial control project, and generate a notification in response to determining, based on a result of the second analysis, that the industrial control project deviates from the previous versions of the industrial control project in excess of a defined degree. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the asset recovery component is configured to prevent deployment of the industrial control project to the one or more industrial devices in response to determining that the result of the second analysis indicates that the industrial control project deviates from the defined design standard in excess of the defined degree. 11. The system of claim 7 , wherein the asset recovery component is configured to deploy the industrial control project or a selected one of the previous versions of the industrial control project to the one or more industrial devices from the cloud platform. 12. A method, comprising: receiving, by a system comprising a processor that executes on a cloud platform, an industrial control project comprising at least control programming and device configuration data that, in response to execution on one or more industrial devices, facilitate monitoring and control of an industrial automation system; and in response to the receiving: performing, by the system, an analysis on the project telemetry data; generating, by the system, project telemetry data for the industrial control project, the project telemetry data defining characteristics of the one or more industrial devices and predicted operating characteristics of the industrial control project inferred based on the analysis of the industrial control project; and generating, by the system based on a result of the analysis, a recommendation for modifying the industrial control project in a manner that improves one or more of the predicted operating characteristics. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the generating of the project telemetry data comprises: determining, as a portion of the project telemetry data, an inventory of the one or more industrial devices used in the industrial control project, determining other industrial assets included in the industrial automation system based on analysis of device configuration data for the one or more industrial devices, and generating the project telemetry data to include identities of the other industrial assets. 14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the generating of the recommendation comprises generating a recommendation to at least one of replace or reconfigure an industrial device to reduce an amount of memory or processing resources consumed by the industrial control project, replace or reconfigure the industrial device to increase an I/O capacity for the control project, utilize a currently unused feature of the industrial device to improve a performance metric of the industrial control project, or reconfigure the industrial control project to increase an expected lifespan of the industrial device. 15. The method of claim 12 , wherein the generating of the recommendation comprises generating the recommendation based in part on a digital device model stored on a vendor-s
