The present invention is a method of treating or preventing Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in a subject by administering to the subject an effective amount of oxazolidinone, specifically (N—(((S)-3-(dibenzo[b,e][1,4]dioxin-7-yl)-2-oxooxazolidin-5-yl)methyl)acetamide) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate, or stereoisomer thereof.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method for treating or preventing a methicillin-sensitive and/or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of (N—(((S)-3-(dibezo[b,e][1,4]dioxin-7-yl)-2-oxooxazolidin-5-yl)methyl)acetamide) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate, or stereoisomer thereof. 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the subject is a human. 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the subject is an animal. 4. The method of claim 1 further administering at least one or more antimicrobial compounds.
