A power distribution system includes a bus plug having an electrical switch configured to selectively control energization of the bus plug. The bus plug includes an electrical switch having a control knob operable to selectively control energization of the bus plug, and an actuator having an actuator adaptor coupling that couples movement of the actuator to the control knob. The bus plug includes a partition wall separating the internal volume into a line side and a load side. The bus plug includes an external handle coupled to mechanical linkages, and an adaptor bracket fixed to at least one of the mechanical linkages and oriented to interact with the control knob. The bus plug includes an actuator operable to move the mechanical linkages. Methods of controlling energization of a bus plug with a remote application and communication module configured to operate an actuator are also provided.

What is claimed is: 1. A power distribution system comprising: a bus plug having an internal volume defined by a housing; an electrical switch having a control knob operable to selectively control energization of the bus plug; an actuator; an actuator adaptor coupling that couples the actuator to the control knob, such that movement of the actuator causes the control knob to move; a partition wall separating the internal volume into a line side and a load side, wherein the partition wall has a first opening between the line side and the load side, and wherein the electrical switch includes at least one electrical connector extending from the electrical switch on the line side through the first opening to the load side; a first cover obstructing access from outside the internal volume of the housing into the line side, wherein the first cover includes a second opening providing access to the control knob of the electrical switch; and a second cover obstructing access from outside the internal volume of the housing into the load side. 2. The power distribution system of claim 1 , wherein the first cover extends from the partition wall in a first direction away from the load side and the second cover extends from the partition wall in a second direction away from the line side. 3. The power distribution system of claim 1 , wherein the actuator is positioned outside a line side volume of the housing defined within the housing by the first cover and the partition wall, and wherein at least a portion of the actuator adaptor coupling extends from the actuator through the second opening into the line side volume. 4. The power distribution system of claim 1 , including a remote application having one or more commands defining the energization of the bus plug, and a communication module configured to communicate the one or more commands from the remote application to the bus plug, wherein the one or more commands operates the actuator to move the control knob of the electrical switch. 5. A bus plug comprising: a housing defining an internal volume; mechanical linkages positioned within the internal volume; an electrical switch having a control knob operable to selectively control energization of the bus plug; an external handle directly coupled to the mechanical linkages, the external handle being manually operable to move the mechanical linkages; an adaptor bracket fixed to at least one of the mechanical linkages and oriented to directly interact with the control knob to toggle the bus plug between an energized or de-energized state; and a motorized actuator operable to move the mechanical linkages, wherein the motorized actuator is configured to be actuated to move the mechanical linkages independently of manual operation of the external handle, and wherein the external handle is configured to be manually operated to move the mechanical linkages independently of the actuation of the motorized actuator. 6. The bus plug of claim 5 , wherein the motorized actuator includes a motor configured to move the mechanical linkages based at least in part on rotational motion. 7. The bus plug of claim 5 , including a partition wall separating the internal volume into a line side and a load side, wherein the partition wall has an opening between the line side and the load side, and wherein the electrical switch includes at least one electrical connector extending from the electrical switch on the line side through the opening to the load side. 8. The bus plug of claim 7 , including a first cover obstructing access from outside the internal volume of the housing into the line side, and a second cover obstructing access from outside the internal volume of the housing into the load side, wherein the motorized actuator is positioned outside a line side volume of the housing defined within the housing by a portion of the first cover and the partition wall. 9. The bus plug of claim 7 , including a housing cover extending from one end of the bus plug to an opposite end of the bus plug obstructing access from outside the internal volume of the housing into the line side and the load side, wherein the motorized actuator is positioned outside a line side volume of the housing defined within the housing by a portion of the housing cover and the partition wall. 10. A bus plug comprising: an electrical switch having a control knob operable to selectively control energization of the bus plug; mechanical linkages coupled to the control knob; a motorized actuator coupled to the mechanical linkages, wherein the motorized actuator is operable to move the mechanical linkages; and a handle separately coupled to the mechanical linkages, such that the handle is only connected to the motorized actuator through the mechanical linkages, wherein the handle is operable to move the mechanical linkages; and an adaptor bracket fixed to at least one of the mechanical linkages and oriented to directly interact with the control knob to toggle the bus plug between an energized or de-energized state, wherein the motorized actuator is configured to be actuated to move the mechanical linkages independently of operation of the handle, and wherein the handle is configured to be operated to move the mechanical linkages independently of the actuation of the motorized actuator. 11. The bus plug of claim 10 , the handle being lockable in a predetermined position with a mechanical lock, and wherein the mechanical lock prevents operation of the handle. 12. The bus plug of claim 11 , including a limit switch having a mechanical lever positioned to contact the mechanical lock when the handle is locked in the predetermined position. 13. The bus plug of claim 12 , including a remote application having one or more commands defining the energization of the bus plug, and a communication module configured to communicate the one or more commands from the remote application to the bus plug, wherein the one or more commands operates the motorized actuator to move the mechanical linkages. 14. The bus plug of claim 13 , wherein the limit switch is configured to restrict the one or more commands from operating the motorized actuator when the handle is locked in the predetermined position by the mechanical lock.
