An implant holder is provided with a first guide lumen and second guide lumen. The implant holder has a first position wherein the implant holder couples to an interbody implant, aligns the first guide lumen with a first hole in the interbody implant, and aligns the second guide lumen with a second hole in the interbody implant. The implant holder has a second position wherein the implant holder releases the interbody implant.

What is claimed is: 1. An implant inserter, comprising: a first portion comprising a first guide lumen; a second portion comprising a second guide lumen; an engagement member disposed between the first portion and the second portion; and a carrier coupled to the engagement member and disposed between the first portion and the second portion, wherein the carrier is configured to translate along the engagement member as the engagement member is rotated in a first direction to move the first portion and the second portion toward each other, wherein the carrier is configured to translate along the engagement member as the engagement member is rotated in a second direction to move the first portion and the second portion away from each other. 2. The implant inserter as in claim 1 , wherein the engagement member rotates but does not translate relative to the first portion and the second portion. 3. The implant inserter as in claim 1 , wherein rotation in the first direction moves the carrier proximally, wherein rotation in the second direction moves the carrier distally. 4. The implant inserter as in claim 1 , wherein the first direction is away from an implant disposed between the first portion and the second portion, wherein the second direction is toward the implant disposed between the first portion and the second portion. 5. An implant inserter, comprising: a first portion comprising a first guide lumen; a second portion comprising a second guide lumen; an engagement member comprising a threaded portion disposed between the first portion and the second portion; and a carrier comprising a complementary threaded portion configured to engage the threaded portion, wherein the carrier is disposed between the first portion and the second portion, wherein the complementary threaded portion of the carrier is configured to translate along the threaded portion of the engagement member as the engagement member is rotated to move the first portion and the second portion to grasp an implant, wherein the complementary threaded portion of the carrier is configured to translate along the threaded portion of the engagement member as the engagement member is rotated to move the first portion and the second portion to release the implant. 6. The implant inserter as in claim 5 , wherein the carrier comprises a first plate and a second plate. 7. The implant inserter as in claim 5 , wherein the carrier comprises a proximal portion and a distal portion, wherein the proximal portion is farther apart than the distal portion. 8. The implant inserter as in claim 5 , wherein the threaded portion comprises a proximal portion and a distal portion, wherein the first portion and the second portion grasp the implant when the complementary threaded portion of the carrier is toward the proximal portion. 9. The implant inserter as in claim 5 , wherein threaded portion comprises a proximal portion and a distal portion, wherein the first portion and the second portion release the implant when the complementary threaded portion of the carrier is toward the distal portion. 10. The implant inserter as in claim 5 , wherein the engagement member comprises a keyed post. 11. The implant inserter as in claim 5 , wherein the engagement member is configured to rotate without translation relative to the first portion and the second portion. 12. The implant inserter as in claim 5 , wherein the carrier comprises a wedge. 13. The implant inserter as in claim 5 , wherein the first portion and the second portion comprise flanges to facilitate engagement with the implant. 14. An implant inserter, comprising: a handle comprising a handle proximal end and a handle distal end, an implant holder comprising an implant holder proximal end and an implant holder distal end, the implant holder comprising: a first portion; a second portion, wherein at least a portion of an implant extends distally from the implant holder when the first portion and the second portion grasp the implant; an engagement member comprising a post and a threaded portion, wherein the post is configured to engage the handle distal end; and a carrier configured to engage the threaded portion of the engagement member, wherein the first portion and the second portion grasp the implant when a complementary threaded portion of the carrier is positioned proximally, wherein the first portion and the second portion release the implant when the complementary threaded portion of the carrier is positioned distally. 15. The implant inserter as in claim 14 , wherein the first portion comprises a first guide lumen and the second portion comprises a second guide lumen. 16. The implant inserter as in claim 14 , wherein the carrier moves proximally and distally as the engagement member is rotated by the handle. 17. The implant inserter as in claim 14 , wherein the post comprises a keyed post. 18. The implant inserter as in claim 14 , further comprising a quick release connection between the engagement member and the handle. 19. The implant inserter as in claim 14 , wherein the engagement member is configured to rotate relative to the first portion and the second portion. 20. The implant inserter as in claim 14 , wherein longitudinal translation of the engagement member relative to the first portion and the second portion is prevented.
