Provided herein are components for a fluid network, specifically a U bend structure connected to at least two pipes which is modified for one or more objective functions of interest such as pressure drop, erosion rate, fouling, coke deposition and operating costs. The U bend structure is so designed to have a specific ARQ between 1.0 to 1.02 for 5% of the flow passage from the inlet and from the outlet, and an ARQ from 1.02 to 1.15 over the remaining 90% of the flow passage through an Rb/D ratio being greater than 1 and less than 4.

What is claimed is: 1. A fluid network comprising at least two pipes connected to at least one U-bend, wherein the U-bend comprises an inlet, an outlet, and a bend, and the at least one U-bend has individually or in co-operative arrangement a flow passage having a continuously smooth and differentiable perimeter and centerline and a smoothly varying cross-section along the flow passage such that in the 5% of the flow passage from the inlet and the 5% of the flow passage from the outlet, an ARQ is from 1.0 to 1.02, and over the remaining 90% of the length of the flow passage not less than 5% of the flow passage has an ARQ from 1.02 to 1.15, and wherein the presence of one or more U-bends reduces the an overall pressure drop within the fluid network by 10% or more when compared to thea calculated pressure drop for a fluid network having a comparative flow passage with an ARQ along its length from 1.00 to 1.02, wherein ARQ is the ratio of aspect ratio (AR) to isoperimetric quotient (Q) of a section or segment of the flow passage perpendicular to the direction of flow (AR/Q), wherein L is the length and D is the inner diameter of the at least two pipes and further wherein the ratio L/D of the at least two pipes connected to the at least one U-bend is greater than 0 and less than 20, wherein Rb is half the distance between the center of the at least two pipes being connected by the at least one U-bend, and further wherein the ratio Rb/D is greater than 1 and less than 4. 2. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the overall pressure drop within the fluid network is 15% or more. 3. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the overall pressure drop within the fluid network is 20% or more. 4. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the pipes are straight or essentially straight. 5. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the fluid network is a heat exchanger. 6. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the fluid network is a fluid transporting network. 7. The fluid network of claim 6 wherein the fluid transporting network is a pipeline. 8. The fluid network of claim 6 wherein the fluid transporting network a hydraulic system. 9. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the fluid network is fluid processing equipment or is a fluid processing device wherein fluid condenses or evaporates when in contact with the fluid network. 10. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the fluid network is fluid processing equipment or is a fluid processing device wherein fluid changes its temperature when in contact with the fluid network. 11. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the fluid network is fluid processing equipment or is a fluid processing device wherein fluid undergoes a chemical reaction with or without participation of other substances/components when in contact with the fluid network. 12. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the fluid network is a fluid distribution network. 13. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the bend in the at least one U-tube is between about 90 and about 180 degrees. 14. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the bend in the at least one U-tube is between about 95 and about 180 degrees. 15. The fluid network of claim 1 wherein the bend in the at least one U-tube is between about 90 and about 175 degrees. 16. The fluid network of claim 1 , further wherein an erosion rate of the fluid network is decreased by not less than 10% compared to the erosion rate for a network having a comparative flow passage with an ARQ along its length from 1.00 to 1.02. 17. The fluid network of claim 1 , further wherein fouling or sedimentation rate of the fluid network is decreased by not less than 10% compared to the fouling or sedimentation rate for a fluid network having a comparative flow passage with an ARQ along its length from 1.00 to 1.02.
