Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A fluid spraying system includes a displacement pump configured to mount to a drive housing. A reciprocating drive is connectable to a pump rod of the displacement pump and includes a connecting rod and a drive link that receives a head of the pump rod. A tightening ring that includes threading is configured to rotate about a cylinder of the pump and shift axially along the cylinder and engage with a bottom side of the drive housing to secure the displacement pump to the drive housing.

The invention claimed is: 1. A system comprising: a drive housing having a bottom and an opening extending through the bottom of the drive housing; and a driving link located within the drive housing, the driving link comprising a drive cavity located within the drive housing; and a pump which axially reciprocates, the pump comprising: a cylinder comprising a top end; a pump rod that extends along an axis and out from the top end of the cylinder, the pump rod comprising a head connected by a neck, the head wider than the neck; and a threaded ring located on the cylinder and which rotates around the cylinder, wherein the pump mounts to the drive housing by the threaded ring engaging the bottom of the drive housing to secure the pump to the drive housing while the cylinder extends upward into the opening and while the pump rod extends within the drive housing and while the head is received within the drive cavity to be held by the driving link and while the neck extends downward within the driving link and out of the driving link, and wherein the pump dismounts from the drive housing by disengaging the threaded ring from the bottom of the drive housing which allows the head of the pump rod to slide out of the drive cavity of the driving link and then the pump rod to be withdrawn from the drive housing. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the threaded ring rotates to move axially upwards to secure the pump to the drive housing, and the threaded ring rotates to move axially downwards to loosen the pump relative to the drive housing. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein engagement of the threaded ring with the bottom of the drive housing by rotation of the threaded ring prevents the head from sliding out of the drive cavity and disengagement of the threaded ring from the bottom of the drive housing releases the head to slide out of the drive cavity. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the threaded ring is located on the cylinder such that the cylinder extends above the threaded ring and below the threaded ring. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the threaded ring rotates to tighten up against the bottom of the drive housing to mount the pump to the drive housing. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the threaded ring rotates around the cylinder to secure the pump to the drive housing. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the threaded ring rotates around the cylinder to disengaging the threaded ring from the bottom of the drive housing. 8. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a fluid dispensing hose connected to the pump. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the pump connects to the driving link by insertion of the head laterally into a front opening of the drive cavity, and the pump dismounts from the driving link by the head sliding laterally out of the front opening of the drive cavity to disconnect the pump rod from the driving link. 10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the drive housing comprises a forward facing opening. 11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the pump hangs down from the drive housing when mounted to the drive housing. 12. The system of claim 11 , further comprising a frame that includes a plurality of legs that extend from the drive housing and below the pump to support the drive housing. 13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the head slides into a front opening of the drive cavity during mounting of the pump to the drive housing but the head is prevented from sliding within the drive cavity while the pump is mounted to the drive housing due to the threaded ring engaging the bottom of the drive housing. 14. The system of claim 1 , wherein the pump mounts to the driving link by the head sliding into a front opening of the drive cavity of the driving link while the cylinder extends through the opening extending through the bottom of the drive housing, and the pump dismounts from the driving link by the head sliding out of the front opening of the drive cavity of the driving link while the cylinder extends through the opening extending through the bottom of the drive housing. 15. The system of claim 1 , wherein the threaded ring engages the bottom of the drive housing to clamp the pump to the drive housing to secure the pump. 16. The system of claim 1 , wherein the drive cavity comprises a front opening and at least two opposed flange ridges, the head slides through the front opening of the driving link and is received within the drive cavity as part of the pump being mounted, the head is held by the at least two opposed flange ridges of the driving link while the neck extends between and below the at least two opposed flange ridges when the pump is mounted, and the head slides out through the front opening of the drive cavity as part of the pump being dismounted. 17. The system of claim 1 , wherein the bottom of the drive housing includes a bottom side that is downward facing, the opening extending through the bottom of the drive housing is open on the bottom side, and the threaded ring engages the bottom side of the drive housing to secure the pump to the drive housing. 18. A system, comprising: a drive housing having a bottom and an opening extending through the bottom of the drive housing; and a driving link located within the drive housing, the driving link comprising a drive cavity located within the drive housing; and a pump which axially reciprocates along an axis, the pump comprising: a pump body comprising a top end; a pump rod that extends out from the top end of the pump body, the pump rod comprising a head connected by a neck, the head wider than the neck; and a threaded ring located on the pump body such that the pump body extends above and below the threaded ring, the threaded ring configured to rotate around the pump body; a frame that includes a plurality of legs that extend downward from the drive housing to support the drive housing, the plurality of legs extending below the pump when the pump is mounted to the drive housing; wherein the pump mounts to the drive housing by the threaded ring rotating to move axially upwards to tighten up against the bottom of the drive housing to secure the pump to the drive housing while the pump body extends into the opening such that the pump hangs down from the drive housing and while the pump rod extends up within the drive housing so that the head is received within the drive cavity of the driving link and the neck extends downward within and out of the driving link, and wherein the pump dismounts from the drive housing by the threaded ring rotating to move axially downwards to disengage from the bottom of the drive housing to loosen the pump relative to the drive housing which releases the head of the pump rod to slide laterally out of the drive cavity of the driving link and then the pump rod to be withdrawn from the drive housing. 19. A system comprising: a drive housing having a bottom and an opening on the bottom of the drive housing; and a driving link located within the drive housing, the driving link comprising a drive cavity located within the drive housing, the drive cavity having a front opening; and a pump which axially reciprocates along an axis, the pump comprising: a cylinder; a pump rod that extends out from the cylinder, the pump rod comprising a head connected by a neck, the head wider than the neck, the pump rod and the driving link configured to connect together by the head inserting through the front opening into the drive cavity; and a threaded ring located on the cylinder such that the cylinder extends above and below the threaded rin
