Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

In an exemplary embodiment, software made in accordance with the present invention generates a request for quote (RFQ) based on user-provided information, presents a user interface allowing a user to customize the RFQ, generates an e-mail including the RFQ, and sends the e-mail to one or more suppliers. Various corresponding and related systems, methods, and software are described.

What is claimed is: 1. A system for automatedly generating a request for quotation (RFQ) electronic mail (email) template, the system comprising: a computing device configured to: display a list of user-selectable suppliers including email addresses associated with each user-selectable supplier of the list of user selectable suppliers; receive a selection of at least one supplier of the list of user-selectable suppliers from a first user; receive information associated with the at least one supplier from a supplier database; display, by an RFQ email interface, an RFQ electronic mail template as a function of the selection of the at least one supplier; identifying, for attaching to the RFQ email template, a design document based on a usage history of the first user, wherein the usage history includes user selections and wherein the design document comprises a CAD model; populate the RFQ electronic mail template, wherein population of the RFQ email template comprises automatedly attaching the identified design document; receive one or more modifications to the CAD model; update, using a design document link between the design document and the RFQ email interface, the attached design document in accordance with the received one or more modifications, wherein the update is provided as a function of a timed schedule; and send an RFQ electronic mail template that has been populated with the updated design document to the at least one supplier. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein populating the RFQ electronic mail template comprises automatedly populating a user-supplied information. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the user-supplied information comprises a quantity of a part to be made. 4. The system of claim 2 , wherein the user-supplied information comprises a designers name. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein populating the RFQ electronic mail template comprises automatedly populating the electronic mail template with a name of the at least a supplier that has been selected. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the design document comprises at least a computer aided design (CAD) file. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the CAD model is associated with a three-dimensional (3D) structure to be fabricated. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the RFQ electronic mail template is displayed using a graphical user interface. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the selection of the at least one supplier comprises the selection of a plurality of suppliers. 10. A method of automatedly generating a request for quotation (RFQ) electronic mail template, the method comprising: displaying, using a computing device, a list of user-selectable suppliers receiving a selection, using the computing device, of at least one supplier of the list of user-selectable suppliers including email addresses associated with each user-selectable supplier of the list of user selectable suppliers from a first user; receiving, using the computing device, information associated with the at least one selected supplier from a supplier database; displaying, by an RFQ email interface using the computing device, an RFQ electronic mail template as a function of the selection of the at least one supplier; identifying, using the computing device, a design document based on a usage history of the first user for attaching to the RFQ email template, wherein the usage history includes user selections and wherein the design document comprises a CAD model; populating, using the computing device, the RFQ electronic mail template, wherein population of the RFQ email template comprises automatedly attaching the identified design document; receiving, using the computing device, one or more modifications to the CAD model; updating, using a design document link between the design document and the RFQ email interface included in the computing device, the attached design document in accordance with the received one or more modifications, wherein the update is provided as a function of a timed schedule; and transmitting, using the computing device, an RFQ electronic mail template that has been populated with the updated design document to the at least one selected supplier. 11. The method of claim 10 , wherein populating the RFQ electronic mail template comprises automatedly populating a user-supplied information. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the user-supplied information comprises a quantity of a part to be made. 13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the user-supplied information comprises a designers name. 14. The method of claim 10 , wherein populating the RFQ electronic mail template comprises automatedly populating the electronic mail template with a name of the at least a supplier that has been selected. 15. The method of claim 10 , wherein the design document comprises one or more computer aided design (CAD) files. 16. The method of claim 10 , wherein the CAD model is associated with a three-dimensional (3D) structure to be fabricated. 17. The method of claim 10 , wherein the RFQ email template is displayed using a graphical user interface. 18. The method of claim 10 , wherein the selection of the at least one supplier comprises the selection of a plurality of suppliers.
