Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems, devices, apparatuses, components, methods, and techniques for generating and playing a selectable content depth media program are provided. Media content items are edited to produce selectable depth media segments which are assembled into selectable depth media programs. A media-playback device is configured to navigate and play the selectable depth media program through interaction by a listening user. The user selects the desired content depth for each media segment.

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

What is claimed is: 1. A system comprising: memory storing a plurality of selectable media segments, each selectable media segment having content, each selectable media segment having at least first and second versions, the second version having more content than the first version; and a processor in data communication with the memory, the processor programmed to: generate an aggregation of selectable media segments selected from the plurality of selectable media segments; play the first version for one selectable media segment; and play the second version for the one selectable media segment in response to processing a voice command corresponding to a command, the voice command corresponding to instructions for playing the second version of the one selectable media segment; wherein a beginning content of the second version occurs after an end content of the first version in the selectable media segment. 2. The system of claim 1 wherein the aggregation of selectable media segment comprises a sequence of selectable media segments. 3. The system of claim 2 wherein the one selectable media segment is in a first position in the sequence. 4. The system of claim 1 wherein the processor is programmed to: control play of the one selectable media segment; and determine the voice command after playback of the first version for the one selectable media segment is complete. 5. The system of claim 4 wherein the processor is programmed to: control play of the second version of the one selectable media segment after determining the voice command relates to playing the second version of the one selectable media segment. 6. The system of claim 4 wherein the processor is further programmed to: control play of the first version for a different selectable media segment in an absence of the voice command relating to playing the second version of the first selectable media segment, the different selectable media segment being different than the one selectable media segment. 7. The system of claim 6 wherein the one selectable media segment and the different selectable media segment are in a sequence of selectable media segments, the one selectable media segment being immediately before the different selectable media segment in the sequence. 8. The system of claim 1 wherein the memory is positioned in a housing, and the housing comprises a server. 9. The system of claim 1 wherein the memory is positioned in a housing, and the housing comprises a player. 10. The system of 9 wherein the player is separate from a server. 11. The system of claim 9 wherein the player is positioned in a vehicle. 12. The system of claim 11 wherein the player is positioned in a smart phone. 13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second version having more content than the first version further comprises the second version having a longer playback duration than the first version. 14. A method comprising: accessing a first version of a first selectable media segment, the first selectable media segment having at least the first version and a second version, the second version having more content than the first version; generating a playback sequence, the playback sequence including the first version of the first selectable media segment followed by the second version of the first selectable media segment; processing a voice command, the voice command related to skipping from one selectable media segment to another selectable media segment; and in response to the voice command, modifying the playback sequence to play a first version of a second selectable media segment, the second selectable media segment having at least the first version and a second version, the second version having more content than the first version. 15. The method of claim 14 further comprising playing the first selectable media segment, wherein processing a voice command is performed after playing the first selectable media segment is complete. 16. The method of claim 15 further comprising playing the second selectable media segment after processing the voice command. 17. The method of claim 14 further comprising accessing the second version of the first selectable media segment in an absence of the voice command. 18. The method of claim 14 further comprising playing the first version of the first selectable media segment. 19. The method of claim 18 wherein accessing the first version of the selectable media segment and playing the first version of the selectable media segment are performed by the same device. 20. A system comprising: memory storing a plurality of selectable media segments, each selectable media segment having content, each selectable media segment having at least first and second versions, the second version having more content than the first version; and a processor in data communication with the memory, the processor programmed to: generate an aggregation of selectable media segments selected from the plurality of selectable media segments; play the first version for one selectable media segment; and play, in response to processing a voice command corresponding to a command, the second version for the one selectable media segment after a playback of the first version for the one selectable media segment is complete, the voice command corresponding to instructions for playing the second version of the one selectable media segment.
