Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and/or methods for use in connection with digital downloading jukeboxes are provided. Such systems and/or methods may be used to provide enhanced communications capabilities, e.g., to registered users of jukeboxes. In certain exemplary embodiments, users may become registered users directly at a jukebox. Registered users also may, in certain exemplary embodiments, receive coupons for free plays, import playlists from hardware devices and/or software applications, receive special pricing when playing certain instances of media, play playlists in whole or in part, create and/or manage playlists directly at a jukebox, establish and manage connections with other registered users, etc. Still further, in certain exemplary embodiments, one or more channels may be predefined and/or set up for a jukebox.

A method for playing music at an out-of-home commercial venue, the method performed by a processor executing an application on a mobile device and comprising: logging in a user using the mobile device to a remote server of an entertainment system, wherein the remote server is configured to transmit music items to respective audio playing devices in a plurality of out-of-home commercial venues; in response to a selection of a choice by the logged-in user to select a venue for playing audiovisual content from the remote server, displaying on the mobile device of the user a plurality of venues registered in the remote server; providing for selecting, by the logged-in user, at least one venue from the plurality of out-of-home commercial venues, wherein responsive to the selecting the logged-in user is associated, in a memory storage of the remote server, with the at least one venue; providing for selecting, by the logged-in user, a group of music items to be played at the at least one venue, the selected group being a subset of music items available to the remote server in a database and corresponding to a playlist previously configured by the user in the memory storage, the playlist including a plurality of music items selected by the user on a graphical user interface displayed on a display of the mobile device; and causing playing of items from the group of music items to be played at the respective audio playing device located at the at least one venue, the playing being based upon streaming music items of the playlist from the remote server to the respective audio playing device at the selected at least one venue or downloading the music items of the playlist from remote server to the respective audio playing device at the selected at least one venue. 2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein selecting at least one venue includes selecting a first venue and a second venue, and wherein causing playing of same portions or different portions of items from the set of music items includes causing playing the set of music items at the first and second venues. 3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein causing playing of items from the set of music items to be played at the at least one venue includes causing respectively different portions of the set of music items to be played in each of a plurality of zones at the venue. 4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein causing playing of items from the set of music items to be played at the at least one venue includes causing a same portion of the set of music items to be played simultaneously in each of a plurality of zones at the venue. 5. The method according to claim 1 , enabling the logged-in user to change a volume of said items of the list of music items played at the at least one venue, change a currently playing item of music to another item from the list of music items, and change a group of items from the list of music items to be played at the at least one venue. 6. The method according to claim 1 , enabling the logged-in user to control transmitting by the remote server of audiovisual content items to be played at one or more said out-of-home commercial venue at a plurality of zones, and wherein different ones of said audiovisual content items are played in each of the zones. 7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the controlling transmitting by the remote server of audio visual content items includes configuring a filter according to which at least some of said items of the list of audiovisual content items is filtered before transmission. 8. The method according to claim 1 , enabling the logged-in a user to configure a schedule according to which said transmitted audiovisual items are changed according to day and/or time of day, and wherein the changing includes changing a type of music and/or a playlist being played by an audio playing device at the at least one venue. 9.
