A process cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The cartridge includes an electrophotographic photosensitive drum, a developing roller, a drum unit containing the drum, a developing unit containing the roller and being movable so the roller contacts and is spaced from the drum, and a first force receiver receiving a force from a main-assembly first force applier by movement of a door from open to closed positions when mounting the cartridge and a second force receiver movable from a stand-by position by movement of the first force receiver by a force received from the first force applier. The second force receiver takes a projected position receiving a force from the second force applier to move the developing unit so the roller moves out of contact with the drum, the projected position being higher than the stand-by position.

The invention claimed is: 1. A cartridge comprising; a photosensitive drum; a developing roller configured to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive drum; a first frame rotatably supporting the photosensitive drum; a second frame rotatably supporting the developing roller; and a movable member movable with respect to the second frame, the movable member including a force receiving portion, wherein the second frame is movable relative to the first frame between a contact position in which the developing roller is in contact with the photosensitive drum and a spaced position in which the developing roller is spaced from the photosensitive drum, and wherein the force receiving portion is movable by movement of the movable member in a direction including a component parallel to a rotational axis of the developing roller between an inward position and an outward position in which the force receiving portion is capable of receiving a spacing force for moving the second frame to the spaced position. 2. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the force receiving portion is movable between a first position and a second position in a direction perpendicular to a direction parallel with the rotational axis of the developing roller, and wherein, when the force receiving portion placed in the second position does not receive the spacing force, the second frame is in the contact position. 3. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the force receiving portion is movable between a first position and a second position in a direction perpendicular to a direction parallel with the rotational axis of the developing roller, and wherein, when the force receiving portion is in the first position, the second frame is in the contact position. 4. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the force receiving portion includes a surface that is capable of receiving the spacing force in a direction perpendicular the rotational axis of the developing roller to move the second frame to the spaced position. 5. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the second frame is provided with a groove portion extended in a direction parallel to the rotational axis of the developing roller, and the movable member is movable in the groove. 6. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the force receiving portion is movable from the inward position to the outward position in a direction away from a central part of the cartridge. 7. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein, when the force receiving portion is in the outward position, the force receiving portion is outside of the second frame and beyond an upper surface portion of the second frame. 8. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the force receiving portion is movable from the inward position to the outward position in a direction away from the rotational axis of the developing roller. 9. A cartridge according to claim 1 , further comprising an urging portion configured to urge the movable member to keep the force receiving portion in the inward position. 10. A cartridge according to claim 9 , wherein the urging portion includes a compression spring. 11. A cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the movable member is rotatable about an axis that is perpendicular to a direction parallel to the axis of the developing roller.
