The invention claimed is: 1. A panel having a rectangular shape, and long and short edges such that the long edges are longer than the short edges, wherein, on each of first and second long edges and on each of first and second short edges, the panel comprises a coupling part arranged to couple the panel to another similar panel; wherein the coupling part on the first long edge comprises a tongue and a downwardly directed interlocking groove; wherein the coupling parts on the second long edge and on the first and second short edges each comprises a groove and an interlocking lip; wherein the interlocking lip on each of the second long edge and the first and second short edges delimits the respective groove along a bottom and comprises an upwardly directed interlocking element; wherein the tongue is configured to cooperate with the groove on each of the second long edge and the first and second short edges of another similar panel in order to produce a vertical interlocking between the respective edges; and wherein the downwardly directed interlocking groove is configured to cooperate with the upwardly directed interlocking element on each of the second long edge and the first and second short edges of another similar panel in order to produce a horizontal interlocking between the respective edges; wherein the second long edge comprises a first length segment and a second length segment; wherein the interlocking lip on the second long edge is defined and extends along the second length segment of the second long edge; wherein, at a location of the first length segment, the coupling part on the second long edge comprises a downwardly directed interlocking groove extending along the first length segment; and wherein the downwardly directed interlocking groove on the second long edge is configured to cooperate with the upwardly directed interlocking element on the first and or second short edge of another similar panel to produce a horizontal interlocking between the respective edges. 2. The panel of claim 1 , wherein the interlocking lip on the first or second short edge is absent along a portion of the respective short edge; wherein the coupling part on the respective short edge comprises a downwardly directed interlocking groove at the location of the portion of the respective short edge; and wherein the downwardly directed interlocking groove on the respective short edge is configured to cooperate with the upwardly directed interlocking element on the second long edge of another similar panel in order to produce a horizontal interlocking between the respective edges. 3. The panel of claim 1 , wherein the interlocking lip on each of the first and second short edges is absent along a portion of the respective short edge; wherein the coupling part on each of the first and second short edges comprises a downwardly directed interlocking groove at the location of the the portion of the respective short edge; and wherein the downwardly directed interlocking groove on the first and the second short edge is configured to cooperate with the upwardly directed interlocking element on the other and one short edge of another similar panel, respectively, in order to produce a horizontal interlocking between the respective edges. 4. The panel of claim 1 , wherein the interlocking lip on the first or the second short edge is present along an entire length or virtually the entire length of the first or the second edge, respectively. 5. The panel of claim 1 , wherein the coupling part on the first long edge is present along an entire length or virtually the entire length of the first long edge. 6. The panel of claim 1 , wherein the groove on the first long edge is present along an entire length virtually the entire length of the first long edge. 7. The panel of claim 1 , wherein the groove on the first or the second short edge is present along an entire length or virtually the entire length of the first or the second short edge, respectively. 8. The panel of claim 1 , wherein the coupling part on the first or the second edge comprises a further interlocking element; wherein the coupling part on the second long edge comprises a further interlocking element; and wherein the further interlocking element on the second long edge is configured to cooperate with the further interlocking element on the first or the second short edge of another similar panel in order to produce a vertical interlocking between the respective edges. 9. A panel having a rectangular shape, and has long and short edges such that the long edges are longer than the short edges, wherein, on each of the first or second long edge and on each of the first or second short edge, the panel comprises a coupling part which allows the panel to be coupled to another similar panel; wherein the coupling parts on the first long edge and on the first and second short edges comprise a tongue and a downwardly directed interlocking groove; wherein the coupling part on a second long edge comprises a groove and an interlocking lip; wherein the interlocking lip on the second long edge delimits the respective groove along a bottom and comprises an upwardly directed interlocking element; wherein the groove is configured to cooperate with the tongue on each of the first long edge and the first and second short edges of another similar panel in order to produce a vertical interlocking between the respective edges; and wherein the downwardly directed interlocking groove of the first long edge and of both of the first and second short edges is configured to cooperate with the upwardly directed interlocking element on the second long edge of another similar panel in order to produce a horizontal interlocking between the respective edges; wherein the first long edge comprises a first length segment and a second length segment; wherein a tooth and the interlocking groove on the first long edge are defined and extend along the second length segment of the first long edge; wherein, at a location of the first length segment, the coupling part on the first long edge comprises a groove with an interlocking lip with an upwardly directed interlocking element extending along the first length segment; and wherein the upwardly directed interlocking element on the first long edge is configured to cooperate with the downwardly directed interlocking groove on the second long edge or on the first and second short edges of another similar panel in order to produce a horizontal interlocking between the respective edges. 10. The panel of claim 9 , wherein the tongue and the downwardly directed interlocking groove on the first or the second short edge is absent along a portion of the respective short edge; wherein the coupling part comprises a groove and an interlocking lip on the respective short edge; and wherein the groove and the interlocking lip on the respective short edge are configured to cooperate with the tongue and the downwardly directed interlocking groove on the first long edge of another similar panel in order to produce a horizontal interlocking between the respective edges. 11. The panel of claim 9 , wherein the tooth and the downwardly directed interlocking groove on each of the first and second short edges are defined along a length segment short of an entire length of the respective short edge; wherein, at a location of the respective abovementioned portion, the coupling part on each of the first and second short edges contains a groove and an interlocking lip; and wherein the groove and an interlocking lip on the first or the second short edge are configured to cooperate with the tongue and the downwardly directed interlocking groove, respective
