What we claim: 1. A diesel fuel composition comprising 5 to 60 ppm of an amide containing quaternary ammonium salt (“amide quat”), wherein the amide quat comprises the reaction product of: a) a quaternizable compound that is the reaction product of: i) a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent, wherein the hydrocarbyl-substituent has a number average molecular weight ranging from 400 to 600, and comprises at least one polyisobutenyl succinic anhydride or polyisobutenyl succinic acid; and ii) a nitrogen containing compound comprising dimethylaminopropylamine, N,N-dimethyl-aminopropylamine, N,N-diethyl-aminopropylamine, N,N-dimethyl-aminoethylamine, or mixtures thereof; and b) a quaternizing agent that is propylene oxide, wherein the water shedding performance of the diesel fuel is improved as compared to the same diesel fuel comprising an amide quat prepared from a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent with a hydrocarbyl-substituent having a number average molecular weight outside the range of 400 to 600. 2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the diesel fuel composition further comprises a demulsifier that is selected from 1) an alkylphenol or its salt, 2) a phenol alkoxylate, 3) the reaction product of an alkylphenol and an aldehyde, or 4) combinations thereof. 3. The composition of claim 1 , further comprising at least one other additive that is a detergent, dispersant, lubricity agent, cold flow improver, antioxidant, or a mixture thereof. 4. A method of improving water shedding performance of a fuel composition comprising employing a composition comprising adding to the fuel composition 5 to 60 ppm of an amide containing quaternary ammonium salt (“amide quat”), wherein the amide quat comprises the reaction product of: a) a quaternizable compound that is the reaction product of: i) a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent, wherein the hydrocarbyl-substituent has a number average molecular weight ranging from 400 to 600, and comprises at least one polyisobutenyl succinic anhydride or polyisobutenyl succinic acid; and ii) a nitrogen containing compound comprising dimethylaminopropylamine, N,N-dimethyl-aminopropylamine, N,N-diethyl-aminopropylamine, N,N-dimethyl-aminoethylamine, or mixtures thereof; and b) a quaternizing agent that is propylene oxide, wherein the water shedding performance of the diesel fuel is improved as compared to the same diesel fuel comprising an amide quat prepared from a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent with a hydrocarbyl-substituent having a number average molecular weight outside the range of 400 to 600. 5. A method of reducing and/or preventing injector deposits in a diesel engine by operating the engine using the diesel fuel composition of claim 1 .
