Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An apparatus including a display circuit, a requestor circuit, a request provisioning circuit, an Internet of Things Universal Identification (IoT UID) processing circuit, and an IoT UID provisioning circuit. The display circuit generates a graphical user interface (GUI) configured to receive one or more user input command values corresponding to device property data for one or more Brownfield devices. The requestor circuit generates a registration request that includes the device property data. The request provisioning circuit transmits the registration request to an Internet of Things (IoT) device registrar server. The Internet of IoT UID processing circuit interprets one or more IoT UIDs generated by the IoT device registrar server in response to the registration request. The IoT UID provisioning circuit at least one of: transmits the one or more IoT UIDs; or displays the one or more IoT UIDs on an electronic display.

What is claimed is: 1. An apparatus, comprising: a display circuit structured to generate a graphical user interface (GUI) configured to receive one or more user input command values corresponding to device property data for one or more Brownfield devices; a requestor circuit structured to generate a registration request that includes the device property data; a request provisioning circuit structured to transmit the registration request to an Internet of Things (IOT) device registrar server; an Internet of Things Universal Identification (IoT UID) processing circuit structured to interpret one or more IoT UIDs generated by the IoT device registrar server in response to the registration request; and an IoT UID provisioning circuit structured to at least one of: transmit the one or more IoT UIDs; or display the one or more IoT UIDs on an electronic display. 2. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising: an embedding verification circuit structured to: interpret embedding confirmation data indicating that the one or more IoT UIDs were embedded into the one or more Brownfield devices; and transmit one or more confirmation messages indicating that the one or more IoT UIDs were embedded into the one or more Brownfield devices. 3. The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein: the embedding verification circuit is further structured to transmit the one or more confirmation messages to the display circuit; and the display circuit is further structured to display the embedding confirmation data in the GUI. 4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the device property data includes one or more owner identifier values, each of the one or more owner identifier values corresponding to an owner of the one or more Brownfield devices. 5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the device property data includes at least one of: a trusted platform module (TPM) key; a media access control (MAC) address; or a manufacturing serial number. 6. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising: a credential circuit structured to: interpret a set of credentials corresponding to a user of the GUI; and transmit the set of credentials to the IoT device registrar server, wherein the set of credentials provides authorization to register the one or more Brownfield devices with an IoT device registry associated with the IoT device registrar server. 7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the IoT UID provisioning circuit is further structured to transmit the one or more IOT UIDs via piggybacking the one or more IoT UIDs off one or more base messages transmitted to the one or more Brownfield devices. 8. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the one or more base messages are part of at least one of a software update or a firmware update for the one or more Brownfield devices. 9. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the one or more base messages are transmitted to the one or more Brownfield devices at one or more scheduled times. 10. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the one or more base messages are transmitted in response to the one or more Brownfield devices polling a management device platform. 11. A method, comprising: generating, via a display circuit, a graphical user interface (GUI) configured to receive one or more user input command values corresponding to device property data for one or more Brownfield devices; receiving, via the GUI, the one or more user input command values; generating, via a requestor circuit, a registration request that includes the device property data; transmitting, via a request provisioning circuit, the registration request to an Internet of Things (IOT) device registrar server; interpreting, via an Internet of Things Universal Identification (IoT UID) processing circuit, one or more IoT UIDs generated by the IoT device registrar server in response to the registration request; and at least one of: transmitting, via an IoT UID provisioning circuit, the one or more IoT UIDs; or displaying, via the IoT UID provisioning circuit, the one or more IoT UIDs on an electronic display. 12. The method of claim 11 further comprising: interpreting, via an embedding verification circuit, embedding confirmation data indicating that the one or more IoT UIDs were embedded into the one or more Brownfield devices; and transmitting, via the embedding verification circuit, one or more confirmation messages indicating that the one or more IoT UIDs were embedded into the one or more Brownfield devices. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein: the one or more confirmation messages are transmitted to the display circuit; and the display circuit is further structured to display the embedding confirmation data in the GUI. 14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the device property data includes one or more owner identifier values, each of the one or more owner identifier values corresponding to an owner of the one or more Brownfield devices. 15. The method of claim 11 further comprising: interpreting, via a credential circuit, a set of credentials corresponding to a user of the GUI; and transmitting, via the credential circuit, the set of credentials to the IoT device registrar server, wherein the set of credentials provides authorization to register the one or more Brownfield devices with an IoT device registry associated with the IoT device registrar server. 16. The method of claim 11 , wherein transmitting, via an IoT UID provisioning circuit, the one or more IOT UIDs comprises: piggybacking the one or more IoT UIDs off one or more base messages transmitted to the one or more Brownfield devices. 17. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that adapt at least one processor to: generate a graphical user interface (GUI) configured to receive one or more user input command values corresponding to device property data for one or more Brownfield devices; receive, via the GUI, the one or more user input command values; generate a registration request that includes the device property data; transmit the registration request to an Internet of Things (IOT) device registrar server; interpret one or more IoT UIDs generated by the IoT device registrar server in response to the registration request; and at least one of: transmitting the one or more IoT UIDs; or display the one or more IoT UIDs on an electronic display. 18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the stored instructions further adapt the at least one processor to: interpret embedding confirmation data indicating that the one or more IoT UIDs were embedded into the one or more Brownfield devices; and transmit one or more confirmation messages indicating that the one or more IoT UIDs were embedded into the one or more Brownfield devices. 19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein: the one or more confirmation messages are transmitted to the GUI; and the stored instructions further adapt the at least one processor to: display the embedding confirmation data in the GUI. 20.
