A coupling system is disclosed for connecting a tube set to a trocar that includes a multi-lumen trocar having a housing that has a connector extending outwardly from the housing, the connector having a plurality of coaxial flow passages defined therein by a plurality of concentric annular walls, a multi-lumen tube set including a plurality of tubes arranged in a parallel relationship, a coupling including a generally cylindrical body having a first end portion adapted and configured to selectively mate with the coaxial flow passages of the connector of the trocar and a second end portion adapted and configured for attachment to the parallel tubes of the tube set, and a latch assembly operatively associated with the cylindrical body of the coupling for selectively engaging the connector of the trocar housing when the coupling mates with the connector.

What is claimed is: 1. A coupling assembly for connecting a single lumen tube set to a trocar comprising: a) a cylindrical connector defining an interior bore and having a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart posts extending radially outwardly therefrom, wherein each post has a flat edge surface; b) a coupler defining an interior flow passage and having a distal portion, a medial portion, and a proximal portion, wherein a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart generally J-shaped cam slots are formed in the distal portion of the coupler, each for receiving one of the posts of the connector, and wherein each cam slot has a flat end surface for mating with the flat edge surface of a post of the plurality of posts in a locked position; and c) a single lumen tube extending into the interior flow passage of the coupler through the proximal portion thereof so that upon insertion of the connector into the distal portion of the coupler, the distal portion of the connector is pushed against a distal end of the tube to provide resistance to lock the posts in the cam slots. 2. A coupling assembly as recited in claim 1 , wherein an O-ring is seated within the medial portion of the coupler to contact the distal portion of the connector when it is pushed through the interior flow passage toward the tube. 3. A coupling assembly as recited in claim 1 , wherein a compression spring is seated within the medial portion of the connector to provide spring loaded resistance to lock the posts in the cam slots. 4. A coupling assembly as recited in claim 1 , wherein an exterior surface of the proximal portion of the coupler is textured. 5. A coupling assembly as recited in claim 1 , wherein the plurality of circumferentially spaced apart posts comprise four circumferentially spaced apart posts and the four plurality of circumferentially spaced apart cam slots comprise four circumferentially spaced apart cam slots.
