A radiographic image capturing apparatus includes: a two-dimensional array of radiation detecting elements that generate one or more electric charges in proportion to a dose of incident radiation; and a control unit that performs control, at least, to read the electric charges from the radiation detecting elements and generate image data. An image capturing mode is switchable between a controlled mode in which the radiographic image capturing apparatus is under control of an external console and a stand-alone mode in which the radiographic image capturing apparatus autonomously performs image capturing without the control of the console. When the image capturing mode is switched to the controlled mode or the stand-alone mode, the control unit changes its own process so as to meet the switched image capturing mode.

The invention claimed is: 1. A radiographic image capturing apparatus comprising: a radiation detecting element that detects radiation passing through a subject; a first switch; and a second switch, wherein the radiographic image capturing apparatus has, as an image capturing mode, a first image capturing mode in which image capturing is performed under control of an external control device and a second image capturing mode in which image capturing is performed without control of the external control device, and wherein in response to a simultaneous operation on the first switch and the second switch, the image capturing mode is set to the second image capturing mode from the first image capturing mode. 2. The radiographic image capturing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the first switch is a switch to switch a power consumption state of the radiographic image capturing apparatus, and the second switch is a power switch of the radiographic image capturing apparatus. 3. The radiographic image capturing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a notifying unit notifying that the radiographic image capturing apparatus has been set to the second image capturing mode. 4. The radiographic image capturing apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the first switch, the second switch and the notifying unit are disposed on a side face of the radiographic image capturing apparatus. 5. The radiographic image capturing apparatus according to claim 4 , further comprising a connector connectable with an external device, wherein the connector is disposed on the side face of the radiographic image capturing apparatus. 6. The radiographic image capturing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein image data is generated by reading an electric charge from the radiation detecting element, and information on the generated image data is stored in a memory. 7. The radiographic image capturing apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein in the second image capturing mode, after the image capturing, the information on the image data read from the radiation detecting element is stored in the memory, and in response to the radiographic image capturing apparatus being connected to the external control device, the information on the image data stored in the memory is sent to the external control device.
