Official abstract text for this publication.
An electronic device with a display and a fingerprint sensor displays a fingerprint enrollment interface and detects, on the fingerprint sensor, a plurality of finger gestures performed with a finger. The device collects fingerprint information from the plurality of finger gestures performed with the finger. After collecting the fingerprint information, the device determines whether the collected fingerprint information is sufficient to enroll a fingerprint of the finger. When the collected fingerprint information for the finger is sufficient to enroll the fingerprint of the finger, the device enrolls the fingerprint of the finger with the device. When the collected fingerprint information for the finger is not sufficient to enroll the fingerprint of the finger, the device displays a message in the fingerprint enrollment interface prompting a user to perform one or more additional finger gestures on the fingerprint sensor with the finger.

The invention claimed is: 1. An electronic device, comprising: a display; a biometric sensor; one or more processors; and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for: displaying, in a biometric enrollment interface on the display, a three-dimensional progress indicator; collecting a first set of biometric information; in response to collecting the first set of biometric information, updating appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator based on the first set of biometric information; after updating the appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator based on the first set of biometric information, collecting a second set of biometric information; and in response to collecting the second set of biometric information, updating appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator based on the second set of biometric information. 2. The electronic device of claim 1 , the one or more programs further including instructions for: after collecting the first set of biometric information and the second set of biometric information: in accordance with a determination that the biometric information that has been collected is sufficient to enroll the biometric information associated with a user, enrolling the biometric information associated with the user with the electronic device; and in accordance with a determination that the biometric information that has been collected is insufficient to enroll the biometric information associated with the user, displaying a message in the biometric enrollment interface prompting collection of additional biometric information. 3. The electronic device of claim 2 , the one or more programs further including instructions for: after enrolling the biometric information associated with the user with the electronic device: receiving a request to perform a restricted operation; in response to receiving the request to perform the restricted operation, collecting a third set of biometric information: in accordance with a determination that the third set of biometric information corresponds to enrolled biometric information associated with the user with the electronic device, performing the restricted operation; and in accordance with a determination that the third set of biometric information does not correspond to enrolled biometric information associated with the user with the electronic device, forgoing performance of the restricted operation. 4. The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the message for collecting additional biometric information includes displaying instructions for collecting additional biometric information in a manner differently from previous collected biometric information. 5. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein updating appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator includes updating portions of the three-dimensional progress indicator in a predefined sequence. 6. The electronic device of claim 1 , the one or more programs further including instructions for: while collecting the first set of biometric information or collecting the second set of biometric information, providing haptic feedback at the electronic device to indicate that the biometric information is being collected. 7. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the three-dimensional progress indicator resembles an ellipsoid or sphere; and wherein updating appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator includes filling in a portion of the ellipsoid or the sphere. 8. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the three-dimensional progress indicator includes a plurality of progress indicator portions that resemble boxes or hexagons; and wherein updating appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator includes filling at least one of the boxes or the hexagons. 9. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the three-dimensional progress indicator includes a plurality of progress indicator portions that resembles a plurality of concentric circles; and wherein updating appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator includes filling in at least one of the plurality of concentric circles. 10. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of an electronic device with a display and a biometric sensor, the one or more programs comprising instructions for: displaying, in a biometric enrollment interface on the display, a three-dimensional progress indicator; collecting a first set of biometric information; in response to collecting the first set of biometric information, updating appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator based on the first set of biometric information; after updating the appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator based on the first set of biometric information, collecting a second set of biometric information; and in response to collecting the second set of biometric information, updating appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator based on the second set of biometric information. 11. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 10 , the one or more programs further including instructions for: after collecting the first set of biometric information and the second set of biometric information: in accordance with a determination that the biometric information that has been collected is sufficient to enroll the biometric information associated with a user, enrolling the biometric information associated with the user with the electronic device; and in accordance with a determination that the biometric information that has been collected is insufficient to enroll the biometric information associated with the user, displaying a message in the biometric enrollment interface prompting collection of additional biometric information. 12. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 11 , the one or more programs further including instructions for: after enrolling the biometric information associated with the user with the electronic device: receiving a request to perform a restricted operation; in response to receiving the request to perform the restricted operation, collecting a third set of biometric information: in accordance with a determination that the third set of biometric information corresponds to enrolled biometric information associated with the user with the electronic device, performing the restricted operation; and in accordance with a determination that the third set of biometric information does not correspond to enrolled biometric information associated with the user with the electronic device, forgoing performance of the restricted operation. 13. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the message for collecting additional biometric information includes displaying instructions for collecting additional biometric information in a manner differently from previous collected biometric information. 14. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein updating appearance of the three-dimensional progress indicator includes updating portions of the three-dimensional progress indicator in a predefined sequence. 15. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 10 , the one or more programs further including instructions for: while collecting the first set of biometric information or collecting the second set of biometric information, providing haptic feedback at the electronic de
