An information handling system (IHS) boosts a cellular signal. The information handling system boosts the cellular signal by providing an information handling system with a cellular communication capability; pairing the information handling system with a mobile device; determining whether a cellular signal received by the mobile device is weak; and, configuring the information handling system to perform a cellular signal boosting operation when the cellular signal received by the mobile device is weak.

What is claimed is: 1. A computer-implementable method for boosting a cellular signal, comprising: providing an information handling system with a cellular communication capability; pairing the information handling system with a mobile device; determining whether a cellular signal received by the mobile device is weak; and, configuring the information handling system to perform a cellular signal boosting operation when the cellular signal received by the mobile device is weak. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the cellular communication capability of the information handling system is at least one of not being provisioned and not being activated. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the information handling system includes a cellular antenna and the mobile device includes a cellular antenna, the cellular antenna of the information handling system being larger than the cellular antenna of the mobile device; and configuring the information handling system to function as a cellular signal booster leverages the larger cellular antenna of the information handling system. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the mobile device includes a data subscription; and, the mobile device provides a mobile hotspot with improved connectivity due to the cellular signal boosting operation. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the cellular signal boosting operation uses a wireless wide area network (WWAN) function of the information handling system. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the cellular signal boosting operation uses a wireless local area network (WLAN) function of the information handling system. 7. A system comprising: a processor; a data bus coupled to the processor; an antenna system, the smart antenna system providing cellular communication capability; and a non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium embodying computer program code, the non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium being coupled to the data bus, the computer program code interacting with a plurality of computer operations and comprising instructions executable by the processor and configured for: pairing the information handling system with a mobile device; determining whether a cellular signal received by the mobile device is weak; and, configuring the information handling system to perform a cellular signal boosting operation when the cellular signal received by the mobile device is weak. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein: the cellular communication capability of the information handling system is at least one of not being provisioned and not being activated. 9. The system of claim 7 , wherein: the cellular communication capability of the information handling system is at least one of not being provisioned and not being activated. 10. The system of claim 7 , wherein: the mobile device includes a data subscription; and, the mobile device provides a mobile hotspot with improved connectivity due to the cellular signal boosting operation. 11. The system of claim 7 , wherein: the mobile device includes a data subscription; and, the mobile device provides a mobile hotspot with improved connectivity due to the cellular signal boosting operation. 12. The system of claim 10 , wherein: the cellular signal boosting operation uses a wireless local area network (WLAN) function of the information handling system. 13. A non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium embodying computer program code for controlling an antenna of an information handling system, the computer program code comprising computer executable instructions configured for: pairing the information handling system with a mobile device; determining whether a cellular signal received by the mobile device is weak; and, configuring the information handling system to perform a cellular signal boosting operation when the cellular signal received by the mobile device is weak. 14. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein: the cellular communication capability of the information handling system is at least one of not being provisioned and not being activated. 15. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein: the information handling system includes a cellular antenna and the mobile device includes a cellular antenna, the cellular antenna of the information handling system being larger than the cellular antenna of the mobile device; and configuring the information handling system to function as a cellular signal booster leverages the larger cellular antenna of the information handling system. 16. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein: the mobile device includes a data subscription; and, the mobile device provides a mobile hotspot with improved connectivity due to the cellular signal boosting operation. 17. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein: the cellular signal boosting operation uses a wireless wide area network (WWAN) function of the information handling system. 18. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein: the cellular signal boosting operation uses a wireless local area network (WLAN) function of the information handling system. 19. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein: the computer executable instructions are deployable to a client system from a server system at a remote location. 20. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein: the computer executable instructions are provided by a service provider to a user on an on-demand basis.
