A smart mirror can show live or recorded streaming video of an instructor performing a workout in a package that is attractive and unobtrusive enough to hang in a living room. The smart mirror includes a mirror surface with a fully reflecting section and a partially reflecting section. A display behind the partially reflecting section shows the video when the smart mirror is on and is almost invisible when the smart mirror is off. The smart mirror also has a speaker, a microphone, and a camera to enable a user to view the video content and interact with the instructor. The smart mirror may connect to the user's smart phone, a peripheral device (e.g., a Bluetooth speaker) to augment user experience, a biometric sensor to provide biometric data to assess user performance, and/or a network router to connect the smart mirror to a content provider, an instructor, and/or other users.

The invention claimed is: 1. An apparatus, comprising: a display assembly including a touch sensitive display and a mirror panel, the mirror panel having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, the second surface of the mirror panel being disposed between the first surface of the mirror panel and the touch sensitive display, when the touch sensitive display is on, light from the touch sensitive display transmits through a first portion of the mirror panel, the first portion of the mirror panel bordered by a second, fully reflective, portion of the mirror panel, and when the touch sensitive display is off, the first portion of the mirror panel has a fully reflective appearance; a housing at least partially containing each of: a first speaker, a second speaker, a WiFi antenna, a Bluetooth® antenna, a camera, and a microphone, each of the first speaker, the second speaker, the WiFi antenna, the Bluetooth® antenna, the camera, and the microphone operably coupled to a processor of the display assembly; and a stand coupled to and extending from a perimeter surface of the housing, the stand configured to support the display assembly in a substantially vertical configuration when the apparatus is oriented such that the stand is disposed between the display assembly and a support surface, the display assembly configured to display video imagery of an exercise instructor to a user such that the video imagery of the exercise instructor appears superimposed on or adjacent to a portion of a reflected image of the user, and the touch sensitive display controllable via each of a touch sensitive surface of the touch sensitive display and voice control via the microphone. 2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the display assembly has a height of between about 24 inches and about 96 inches, and the display assembly has a width of between about 9 inches and about 120 inches. 3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the display assembly is further configured to display one of: a plurality of fitness classes that is navigable by the user using the voice control via the microphone; a duration of use; or biometric data. 4. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a memory operably coupled to the processor and storing a first software application configured to communicate with a second software application executing at a device remote from the display assembly. 5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the touch sensitive display is further controllable via one of a dedicated remote controller or a wireless keyboard. 6. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a memory operably coupled to the processor and storing an Android™ operating system. 7. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising an amplifier coupled to the first speaker to amplify audio signals prior to outputting the audio signals via the first speaker. 8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the camera is at least one of: configured to take still images and to acquire video; or a 4K resolution camera. 9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a first portion of the stand is in direct contact with the housing at a proximal end of the first portion of the stand, and a second portion of the stand extends from a distal end of the first portion of the stand, the second portion of the stand having a curved shape. 10. An apparatus, comprising: a display assembly including a touch sensitive display and a mirror panel, the mirror panel having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, the second surface of the mirror panel being disposed between the first surface of the mirror panel and the touch sensitive display, when the touch sensitive display is on, light from the touch sensitive display transmits through a first portion of the mirror panel, the first portion of the mirror panel bordered by a second, fully reflective, portion of the mirror panel, and when the touch sensitive display is off, the first portion of the mirror panel has a fully reflective appearance; a housing at least partially containing each of: a first speaker, a second speaker, at least one antenna, a camera, and a microphone, each of the first speaker, the second speaker, the at least one antenna, the camera, and the microphone operably coupled to a processor of the display assembly; and a stand coupled to and extending from a perimeter surface of the housing, the stand configured to support the display assembly in a substantially vertical configuration when the apparatus is oriented such that the stand is disposed between the display assembly and a support surface, the display assembly configured to display video imagery of an exercise instructor to a user such that the video imagery of the exercise instructor appears superimposed on or adjacent to a portion of a reflected image of the user, and the touch sensitive display controllable via one of a dedicated remote controller or a wireless keyboard. 11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the display assembly has a height of between about 24 inches and about 96 inches. 12. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the display assembly has a width of between about 9 inches and about 120 inches. 13. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the display assembly is further configured to display one of: a plurality of fitness classes that is navigable by the user using the voice control via the microphone; a duration of use; or biometric data. 14. The apparatus of claim 10 , further comprising a memory operably coupled to the processor and storing a first software application configured to communicate with a second software application executing at a device remote from the display assembly. 15. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the touch sensitive display is further controllable via at least one of a touch sensitive surface of the touch sensitive display or voice control via the microphone. 16. The apparatus of claim 10 , further comprising a memory operably coupled to the processor and storing an Android™ operating system. 17. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the camera is at least one of: configured to take still images and to acquire video; or a 4K resolution camera. 18. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein a first portion of the stand is in direct contact with the housing at a proximal end of the first portion of the stand, and a second portion of the stand extends from a distal end of the first portion of the stand, the second portion of the stand having a curved shape. 19. An apparatus, comprising: a display assembly including a display and a mirror panel, the mirror panel having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, the second surface of the mirror panel being disposed between the first surface of the mirror panel and the display, when the display is on, light from the display transmits through a first portion of the mirror panel, the first portion of the mirror panel bordered by a second, fully reflective, portion of the mirror panel, and when the display is off, the first portion of the mirror panel has a fully reflective appearance; a housing at least partially containing each of: a first speaker, a second speaker, a WiFi antenna, a Bluetooth® antenna, a camera, and a microphone, each of the first speaker, the second speaker, the WiFi antenna, the Bluetooth® antenna, the camera, and the microphone operably coupled to a processor of the display assembly; and a stand coupled to and extending from a perimeter surface of the housing, a first portion of the stand in direct contact with the housing
