What is claimed is: 1. An addressable device, comprising: a hazard detector base comprising: a first Near-Field Communication (NFC) transponder for receiving a communication including an address for the addressable device, the address transmitted from a wireless device via NFC; and a memory for storing the address; and a hazard detector head comprising: a sensor for detecting a hazard or an intrusion; a second NFC transponder configured to read the address stored in the memory of the hazard detector base, wherein the hazard detector head is configured to report the address to a fire panel; and means for attaching the hazard detector head to the hazard detector base such that the first NFC transponder and the second NFC transponder are sufficiently close to enable communication therebetween. 2. The addressable device of claim 1 , wherein the sensor is configured to detect at least one of smoke, heat, CO, CO 2 , flame, or natural gas. 3. The addressable device of claim 1 , wherein the sensor includes a window sensor, a door sensor, a glass break sensor, a water level sensor, or a passive infra-red sensor. 4. The addressable device of claim 1 , further comprises a notification appliance configured to generate at least one of a siren, a voice alert, or a strobe. 5. The addressable device of claim 1 , wherein the first NFC transponder, in response to receiving the communication, transmits information associated with the NFC transponder back to the wireless device. 6. A system for setting an address of a wireless alarm device, comprising: an application running on a wireless portable device, wherein: the application presenting a user interface configured to allow a user to identify the alarm device and assign an address to the alarm device, and the application, when the wireless portable device is placed in proximity to the alarm device and a transfer is initiated in response to receiving an user input, transmitting via a first Near-Field Communication (NFC) transponder a communication that includes at least the address; and the wireless alarm device, including a second NFC transponder for receiving the communication, and a memory for storing the address contained in the communication, wherein the wireless alarm device is a hazard detector base; and a hazard detector head comprising: an environmental sensor for sensing a hazardous condition, a third NFC transponder that reads the stored address from the hazard detector base, the hazard detector head configured report the address to a fire panel, and means for attaching to the hazard detector base such that the second and third NFC transponders are sufficiently close to enable communication therebetween. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the wireless alarm device further includes a sensor configured to detect at least one of smoke, heat, CO, CO 2 , flame, or natural gas. 8. The system of claim 6 , wherein the wireless alarm device further includes a window sensor, a door sensor, a glass break sensor, a water level sensor, or a passive infra-red sensor. 9. The system of claim 6 , further comprises a notification appliance configured to generate at least one of a siren, a voice alert, or a strobe. 10. The system of claim 6 , wherein the second NFC transponder, in response to receiving the communication, passively transmits information associated with the first NFC transponder back to the wireless device. 11. A method for setting an address of a wireless alarm device, comprising: executing, on a portable wireless device, an application to identify a wireless alarm device in response to receiving an input via a user interface of the portable wireless device; receiving, via the user interface, the input from to identify the wireless alarm device; assigning the address to the wireless alarm device in response to receiving the input; transmitting, from a first Near-Field Communication (NFC) transponder, a communication that includes at least the address; wherein the transmission of the communication, causes: a second NFC transponder in a hazard detector base of the alarm device to receive the communication, and store the address in a memory in the alarm device; a third NFC transponder in a hazard detector head of the alarm device to read the address in the memory, wherein the hazard detector head is configured to report the address to a fire panel; and wherein the hazard detector head includes means for attaching to the hazard detector base such that the second and third NFC transponders are sufficiently close to enable communication therebetween. 12. The method of claim 11 , further comprises receiving identifying information relating to the wireless alarm device. 13. The method of claim 12 , further comprises uploading the identifying information to a fire panel. 14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the identifying information includes information associating the address to the wireless alarm device. 15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the wireless alarm device further includes a sensor configured to detect at least one of smoke, heat, CO, CO 2 , flame, or natural gas. 16. The method of claim 11 , wherein the wireless alarm device further includes a window sensor, a door sensor, a glass break sensor, a water level sensor, or a passive infra-red sensor. 17. The method of claim 11 , wherein the wireless alarm device further includes a notification appliance configured to generate at least one of a siren, a voice alert, or a strobe.
