What is claimed is: 1. A data recorder unit comprising: a data recorder enclosure configured to house an internal component; a data processing unit located in the data recorder enclosure and configured to receive data from a data source associated with a vehicle; and a storage device in communication with the data processing unit and configured to store the data received by the data processing unit, wherein the storage device comprises one or more of a crash-hardened memory or a fire-resistant memory, wherein the storage device is configured to throttle a power dissipation of the storage device based at least partially upon a sensed temperature. 2. The data recorder unit of claim 1 , wherein the storage device is configured to throttle the power dissipation of the storage device by at least one of: discarding a non-critical portion of the data, temporarily buffering the data without recording the data to the storage device, storing the non-critical portion of the data on another storage device, or adjusting a flow of the data. 3. The data recorder unit of claim 1 , wherein the storage device is configured to throttle the power dissipation of the storage device to maintain the sensed temperature within a specified temperature range or below a specified maximum temperature. 4. The data recorder unit of claim 1 , wherein the storage device comprises at least one solid-state storage device. 5. The data recorder unit of claim 1 , wherein the sensed temperature is generated by or derived from output from at least one temperature sensor.
