Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A method for transmitting a broadcast signal according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises generating service layer signaling information for discovery and acquisition of a broadcast service and a content component of the broadcast service; generating service list information including for service list building and discovery of the service layer signaling information; and physical layer processing of the service list information, service layer signaling information, and content component.

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. A method for transmitting a broadcast signal, the method comprising: encoding service data for a service; encoding service list information for one or more services including the service; and transmitting the broadcast signal including the encoded service data and the encoded service list information, wherein the service list information includes first URL (Uniform Resource Locator) information for indicating a URL for acquiring first ESG (Electronic Service Guide) information or first service layer signaling information for all services when the first ESG information or the first service layer signaling information is available via a broadband, wherein the service list information further includes information for the service, and wherein the information for the service includes: service identification information for identifying the service, category information for indicating a type of the service, capability information for indicating a capability required for decoding and presenting the service data, and second URL information for indicating a URL for acquiring second ESG information or second service layer signaling information for the service when the second ESG information or the second service layer signaling information is available via the broadband. 2. The method of claim 1 , generating Diff information by comparing an XML (Extensible Markup Language) template and an XML signaling instance of service layer signaling information; and transmitting the Diff information, wherein the Diff information represents a difference between the XML template and the XML signaling instance, wherein the XML template is pre-shared between a transmission system and a reception system through HTTP(S) (Hypertext Transfer Protocol (Secure)) over the broadband, and wherein the Diff information is encapsulated into metadataEnvelope. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the metadataEnvelope includes: an XML signaling instance ID for identifying the XML signaling instance and an XML template ID for identifying the XML template. 4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the first URL information or the second URL information is used to make a request for the Diff information. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the service list information further includes first URL type information for indicating a type of the first URL information and second URL type information for indicating a type of the second URL information. 6. A device for transmitting a broadcast signal, the device comprising: an encoder configured to encode service data and encode service list information for one or more services including the service; and a transmitter configured to transmit the broadcast signal including the encoded service data and the encoded service list information, wherein the service list information includes first URL (Uniform Resource Locator) information for indicating a URL for acquiring first ESG (Electronic Service Guide) information or first service layer signaling information for all services when the first ESG information or the first service layer signaling information is available via a broadband, wherein the service list information further includes information for the service, and wherein the information for the service: service identification information for identifying the service, category information for indicating a type of the service, capability information for indicating a capability required for decoding and presenting the service data, and second URL information for indicating a URL for acquiring second ESG information or second service layer signaling information for the service when the second ESG information or the second service layer signaling file is available via the broadband. 7. The device of claim 6 , further comprising: a Diff generator configured to generate Diff information by comparing an XML(Extensible Markup Language) template and an XML signaling instance of service layer signaling information and transmit the Diff information, wherein the Diff information represents a difference between the XML template and the XML signaling instance, wherein the XML template is pre-shared between a transmission system and a reception system through HTTP(S) (Hypertext Transfer Protocol (Secure)) over the broadband, and wherein the Diff information is encapsulated in metadataEnvelope. 8. The device of claim 7 , wherein the metadataEnvelope includes: an XML signaling instance ID for identifying the XML signaling instance and an XML template ID for identifying the XML template. 9. The device of claim 7 , wherein the first URL information or the second URL information is used to make a request for the Diff information. 10. The device of claim 6 , wherein the service list information further includes first URL type information for indicating a type of the first URL information and second URL type information for indicating a type of the second URL information. 11. A method for receiving a broadcast signal, the method comprising: receiving the broadcast signal including service data for a service and service list information for one or more services including the service, wherein the service list information includes first URL (Uniform Resource Locator) information for indicating a URL for acquiring first ESG (Electronic Service Guide) information or first service layer signaling information for all services when the first ESG information or the first service layer signaling information is available via a broadband, wherein the service list information further includes information for the service, and wherein the information for the service includes: service identification information for identifying the service, category information for indicating a type of the service, capability information for indicating a capability required for decoding and presenting the service data, and second URL information for indicating a URL for acquiring second ESG information or second service layer signaling information for the service when the second ESG information or the second service layer signaling information is available via the broadband; decoding the service data; and decoding the service list information. 12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising: recovering an XML(Extensible Markup Language) signaling instance of service layer signaling information by applying Diff information received to an XML template, wherein the Diff information represents a difference between the XML template and the XML signaling instance, wherein the XML template is pre-shared between a transmission system and a reception system through HTTP(S) (Hypertext Transfer Protocol (Secure)) over the broadband, and wherein the Diff information is encapsulated in metadataEnvelope. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the metadataEnvelope includes: an XML signaling instance ID for identifying the XML signaling instance and an XML template ID for identifying the XML template. 14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the first URL information or the second URL information is used to make a request for the Diff information. 15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the service list information further includes first URL type information for indicating a type of the first URL information and second URL type information for indicating a type of the second URL information. 16. A device for receiving a broadcast signal, the device comprising: a receiver configured to receive the broadcast signal including service data for a service and service list information for one or more services including
