Methods for manufacturing articles, including articles of footwear, apparel, and sporting equipment are provided. The methods comprise decorating a plurality of foam particles. The decorating can comprise applying a coating on the foam particles, or embossing or debossing the foam particles, or both. The decorating can comprise applying a coating on the foam particles by printing, painting, dyeing, applying a film, or any combination thereof. The plurality of foam particles are affixed utilizing aspects of additive manufacturing methods. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.

What is claimed: 1. A method of forming an article, the method comprising: decorating a first plurality of foam particles thereby forming a first plurality of decorated foam particles, and arranging a second plurality of foam particles thereby forming a second plurality of arranged foam particles, wherein the second plurality of arranged of foam particles comprises a first thermoplastic elastomeric material, and wherein the second plurality of arranged of foam particles has a number average particle size of about 0.04 millimeters to about 10 millimeters in a longest dimension; and affixing together at least some of the first plurality of decorated foam particles and at least some of the second plurality of arranged foam particles thereby forming a third affixed plurality of foam particles, wherein the arranging and affixing are carried out for two or more iterations using an additive manufacturing process, forming the article without use of a compression molding step. 2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the decorating comprises: applying a coating on the first plurality of foam particles; or embossing or debossing the first plurality of foam particles; or both. 3. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the applying the coating on the first plurality of foam particles comprises printing on the first plurality of foam particles, painting on the first plurality of foam particles, dyeing the first plurality of foam particles, applying a film on the first plurality of foam particles, or any combination thereof. 4. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the first plurality of foam particles have a first color, and the coating has a second color which is different than the first color. 5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the arranging the second plurality of foam particles comprises depositing an essentially planar layer comprising the second plurality of foam particles. 6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the arranging and affixing are carried out for three or more iterations. 7. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the decorating is performed during an iteration, after an iteration, between two or more iterations, or a combination thereof. 8. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the decorating is performed on the first plurality of foam particles after the last iteration, where the first plurality of foam particles are part of the article. 9. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the decorating is performed between the arranging and the affixing. 10. The method according to claim 1 , wherein affixing together at least some of the first plurality of decorated foam particles and at least some of the second plurality of foam particles comprises: depositing a binding material in a binding material target area, wherein the binding material target area comprises at least some of the first plurality of decorated foam particles and at least some of the second plurality of arranged foam particles, and wherein the depositing coats the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the second plurality of arranged foam particles in the binding material target area with the binding material to form a binding material coating; and curing the binding material coating deposited on the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the second plurality of arranged foam particles in the target material binding area, wherein curing comprises affixing at least some of the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the second plurality of arranged foam particles in the binding material target area. 11. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the affixing during curing comprises solidifying and binding the binding material coating to the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the second plurality of arranged foam particles. 12. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the curing comprises applying energy to the binding material coating in an amount and for a duration sufficient to soften the binding material coating on the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the second plurality of arranged foam particles; and then decreasing a temperature of the binding material coating on the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the second plurality of arranged foam particles to a temperature at which the binding material coating re-solidifies, thereby affixing at least some the first plurality of decorated foam particles and at least some of the second plurality of arranged foam particles in the binding material target area. 13. The method according to claim 12 , wherein the applying energy comprises applying energy to substantially all of the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the second plurality of arranged foam particles. 14. The method according to claim 12 , wherein the applying energy comprises applying energy within the infrared spectrum. 15. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the affixing together of at least some of the first plurality of decorated foam particles and at least some of the second plurality of arranges foam particles comprises increasing a temperature of the at least some of the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the at least some of the second plurality of arranged foam particles with actinic radiation under conditions effective to melt or soften the surfaces of the at least some of the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the surfaces of the at least some of the second plurality of arranged foam particles; and then decreasing the temperature of the melted or softened surfaces of the at least some of the first plurality of decorated foam particles and the melted or softened surfaces of the at least some of the second plurality of arranged foam particles thereby forming the third affixed plurality of foam particles; wherein the increasing the temperature is carried out for at least one iteration. 16. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the printing comprises screen printing, pad printing, ink jet printing, 3D printing, flexographic printing, heat transfer printing, or any combination thereof. 17. The method according to claim 16 , wherein printing comprises printing a marking onto at least a portion of exterior surfaces of the first plurality of foam particles. 18. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the applying the coating comprises dyeing the first plurality of foam particles. 19. The method according to claim 3 , wherein applying the coating comprises applying a film to the first plurality of foam particles. 20. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the embossing or debossing the first plurality of foam particles comprises contacting surfaces of the first plurality of foam particles with a surface of a relief device; and following the contacting, removing the surface of the relief device from the surfaces of the first plurality of foam particles while retaining an embossed or debossed texture on the surfaces of the first plurality of foam particles.
