Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Disclosed embodiments include a removable support structure for a vibratory screening machine. The removable support structure is a single structure including one or more of plastic, metal, and composite materials and may be configured to provide mechanical support to one or more screening assemblies of the vibratory screening machine. The removable support structure may further be configured to be removably fastened to the vibratory screening machine. The removable support structure may be a single thermoplastic injection molded piece or may be a single injection molded piece that includes nylon, carbon, and graphite. The removable support structure may have a concave shape that is configured to mechanically support a screening assembly held under compression or may have a convex shape that is configured to mechanically support a screening assembly held under tension. A disclosed wear protective covering, made of a flexible material, provides wear protection to the removable support structure.

What is claimed is: 1. A vibratory screening machine, comprising: one or more screening assemblies; and a plurality of injection molded removable stringers configured to provide mechanical support to the one or more screening assemblies; and a plurality of removable wear protective coverings mounted on respective removable stringers to provide wear and abrasion resistance to the removable stringers, wherein a shape of each wear protective covering is configured to tightly conform to a shape of a corresponding removable stringer to which it is mounted and is made of a thermoplastic or other synthetic material having abrasion resistant, wear resistant and hydrophobic properties, wherein the wear protective covering can be mounted to and removed from a removable stringer by hand without the need for tools. 2. The vibratory screening machine of claim 1 , wherein the removable stringers include one or more of plastic, metal, and composite materials. 3. The vibratory screening machine of claim 1 , wherein the removable stringers include nylon. 4. The vibratory screening machine of claim 3 , wherein the removable stringers include fiber-reinforced nylon. 5. The vibratory screening machine of claim 4 , wherein the removable stringers include carbon or graphite. 6. The vibratory screening machine of claim 1 , wherein the removable stringers have a concave shape and are configured to mechanically support screening assemblies held under compression. 7. The vibratory screening machine of claim 1 , wherein the removable stringers have a convex shape and are configured to mechanically support screening assemblies held under tension. 8. The vibratory screening machine of claim 1 , wherein the removable stringers are configured to be removably fastened to the screening machine. 9. A removable stringer for a vibratory screening machine, comprising: a single structure including one or more of plastic, metal, and composite materials, wherein the single structure is configured to be removably fastened to the vibratory screening machine and to provide mechanical support to one or more screening assemblies of the vibratory screening machine; and a removable wear protective covering mounted on the single structure to provide wear and abrasion resistance to the single structure, wherein a shape of the wear protective covering is configured to tightly conform to a shape of the single structure and is made of a thermoplastic or other synthetic material having abrasion resistant, wear resistant and hydrophobic properties, wherein the wear protective covering can be mounted to and removed from the single structure by hand without the need for tools. 10. The removable stringer of claim 9 , wherein the single structure comprises a thermoplastic injection molded material. 11. The removable stringer of claim 9 , wherein the single structure comprises one or more of nylon, carbon, and graphite. 12. The removable stringer of claim 9 , wherein the single structure has a concave shape that is configured to mechanically support a screening assembly held under compression. 13. The removable stringer of claim 9 , wherein the single structure has a convex shape that is configured to mechanically support a screening assembly held under tension. 14. The removable stringer of claim 11 , wherein the single structure further comprises glass-fiber or carbon-fiber reinforced nylon. 15. A method of screening a material, the method comprising: installing removable stringers on a vibratory screening machine, installing wear protective coverings on the stringers, wherein a shape of each wear protective covering is configured to tightly conform to a shape of a corresponding removable stringer to which it is mounted and is made of a thermoplastic or other synthetic material having abrasion resistant, wear resistant and hydrophobic properties, wherein the wear protective covering can be mounted to and removed from a removable stringer by hand without the need for tools; mounting a screening assembly on the vibratory screening machine so that the screening assembly is supported by the covered removable stringers; and screening the material. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein each removable stringer is a single injection molded piece. 17. The method of claim 15 , wherein each removable stringer further comprises one or more of thermoplastic, nylon, carbon, and graphite. 18. The method of claim 17 , wherein each removable stringer further comprises glass-fiber or carbon-fiber reinforced nylon. 19. The method of claim 15 , wherein each removable stringer comprises a concave or convex shape that is configured to mechanically support a screening assembly held under compression or under tension, respectively. 20. The method of claim 15 , wherein each wear protective covering further comprises a hydrophobic abrasion resistant material. 21. The support structure of claim 20 , wherein each wear protective covering further includes thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). 22. The support structure of claim 15 , wherein each wear protective covering is configured to snap onto a corresponding stringer and closely conform to an external shape of the stringer. 23. The vibratory screening machine of claim 1 , wherein the shape and flexibility of each wear protective covering is such that once the wear protective covering is mounted on a removable stringer the wear protective covering will remain attached to the removable stringer without the need for adhesives or fixation devices. 24. The removable support structure of claim 9 , wherein a shape and flexibility of the wear protective covering is such that once the wear protective covering is mounted on the single structure the wear protective covering will remain attached to the single structure without the need for adhesives or fixation devices. 25. The method of claim 15 , wherein the shape and flexibility of the wear protective coverings is such that once a wear protective covering is mounted on a removable stringer, the wear protective covering will remain attached to the removable stringer without the need for adhesives or fixation devices. 26. A removable support assembly configured to support a screening assembly on a vibratory screening machine, comprising: a plurality of injection molded stringers configured to be removably installed on a vibratory screening machine and to provide mechanical support to one or more screening assemblies; and a plurality of removable wear protective coverings, each wear protective covering having a shape and a flexibility that allows the wear protective covering to be mounted on a stringer such that the wear protective covering will remain attached to the stringer without the need for adhesives or fixation devices while the vibratory screening machine operates. 27.
