Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A product management display system for merchandising product on a shelf includes using a trackless pusher mechanism that travels along a surface on which product is placed. A plurality of thin dividers separate the product into rows. The dividers may be formed separately and attached and secured by being inserted into a plurality of grooves arranged along the lower surface and the forward and rear support posts of the product dispensing tray. The dividers are configured to self-adjust by laterally shifting within the grooves when the product is moved forward by the pusher to being loaded by an operator to allow the product to be positioned in a tight fitting manner to maximize the amount of product that can be accommodated horizontally across the tray. In addition, the dividers may have a bottom wall spaced from the surface with a support column that is inserted into an elongated pocket to provide the structural support for the divider.

What is claimed is: 1. A product management display system comprising: a tray having a front end, a rear end, and a floor configured to support a plurality of product, wherein the floor includes a plurality of grooves, and wherein the floor defines a rounded end portion at the front end of the tray and at the rear end of the tray; a plurality of divider walls, wherein each divider wall of the plurality of divider walls separates the tray into a product dispensing row; a forward retaining member, wherein the forward retaining member extends between a pair of forward support posts and extends beyond the rounded end portion at the front end of the tray, wherein the forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are formed as a unitary component, wherein the forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are transparent, and wherein the unitary forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are configured to engage the tray; a pair of rearward support posts positioned at the rear end of the tray; and a rear retaining member, wherein the rear retaining member extends between the pair of rearward support posts and extends beyond the rounded end portion at the rear end of the tray. 2. The product management display system of claim 1 , wherein the forward retaining member is curved. 3. The product management display system of claim 1 , wherein the forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are formed separately from the tray and the dividers. 4. The product management display system of claim 1 , wherein the pair of forward support posts are straight. 5. The product management display system of claim 1 , wherein the dividers include a plurality of support columns. 6. The product management display system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of grooves are evenly spaced. 7. The product management display system of claim 1 further comprising at least one pusher mechanism configured to move product toward the front end of the tray within the product dispensing row. 8. A product management display system comprising: a tray having a front end, a rear end, and a floor configured to support a plurality of product, wherein the floor includes a plurality of grooves, and wherein the floor defines a rounded end portion at the front end of the tray; a plurality of divider walls, wherein each divider wall of the plurality of divider walls separates the tray into a product dispensing row; a forward retaining member, wherein the forward retaining member extends between a pair of forward support posts and extends beyond the rounded end portion, wherein the forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are formed as a unitary component, wherein the forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are transparent, and wherein the unitary forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are configured to engage the tray; a pair of rearward support posts positioned at the rear end of the tray; a rear retaining member, wherein the rear retaining member extends between the pair of rearward support posts, wherein the rear retaining member and the pair of rearward support posts are formed as a unitary component; and a plurality of pusher mechanisms configured to move product toward the front end of the tray within the product dispensing rows, and wherein each divider wall of the plurality of divider walls is disposed in a groove formed in at least one of the pair forward support posts and the pair of rearward support posts. 9. The product management display system of claim 8 , wherein the forward retaining member is curved. 10. The product management display system of claim 8 , wherein the forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are formed separately from the tray and the dividers. 11. The product management display system of claim 8 , wherein the pair of forward support posts are straight. 12. The product management display system of claim 8 , wherein the dividers include a plurality of support columns. 13. The product management display system of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of grooves are evenly spaced. 14. A product management display system comprising: a tray having a front end, a rear end, and a floor configured to support a plurality of product, wherein the floor includes a plurality of grooves, and wherein the floor defines a rounded end portion at the front end of the tray; a plurality of divider walls, wherein each divider wall of the plurality of divider walls separates the tray into a product dispensing row wherein the divider walls are arranged to laterally shift when contacted by one of the plurality of product; a forward retaining member, wherein the forward retaining member extends between a pair of forward support posts and extends beyond the rounded end portion, wherein the forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are transparent, and wherein the unitary forward retaining member and the pair of forward support posts are configured to engage the tray such that the forward retaining member, the pair of forward support posts, and the tray define a forward opening through which product is accessible; a pair of rearward support posts positioned at the rear end of the tray; a rear retaining member, wherein the rear retaining member extends between the pair of rearward support posts, and wherein the rear retaining member and the pair of rearward support posts are configured to engage the tray such that the rear retaining member, the pair of rearward support posts, and the tray define a rearward opening through which product is accessible; and at least one pusher mechanism configured to move product toward the front end of the tray within the product dispensing rows. 15. The product management display system of claim 14 , wherein the pair of forward support posts are formed as a unitary component. 16. The product management display system of claim 14 , wherein the forward retaining member is curved. 17.
