Embodiments presented herein are generally directed to a protective sleeve for an external component of a hearing prosthesis.
Opening claim text (preview).
What is claimed is: 1. A protective sleeve for a hearing prosthesis sound processor, comprising: a main body at least partially formed from a flexible material and comprising a base opening; a plug port in the main body; and a base member configured to cooperate with the base opening of the main body to seal the hearing prosthesis sound processor in the main body. 2. The protective sleeve of claim 1 , wherein the main body includes a base ring surrounding the base opening, wherein the base ring is configured to mechanically mate with the base member. 3. The protective sleeve of claim 1 , wherein the base member comprises a base plug configured to be inserted into the base opening of the main body to seal the hearing prosthesis sound processor in the main body. 4. The protective sleeve of claim 1 , wherein the main body comprises: a rigid ear hook integrated with the main body. 5. The protective sleeve of claim 1 , wherein the main body is shaped so as to be form-fitting to a behind-the-ear sound processor. 6. The protective sleeve of claim 1 , further comprising: a port ring, wherein when a plug is inserted into the plug port, the port ring operates with the plug to seal the plug port. 7. The protective sleeve of claim 6 , wherein the port ring is disposed around the plug port. 8. The protective sleeve of claim 6 , wherein when the plug is inserted into the plug port, the port ring operates with the plug to deform a portion of the flexible material to seal the plug port. 9. The protective sleeve of claim 6 , wherein the protective sleeve is configured to lock the plug within the plug port. 10. The protective sleeve of claim 9 , wherein the protective sleeve is configured to lock the plug within the plug port via compression of the flexible material. 11. A protective sleeve for a hearing prosthesis sound processor, comprising: a main body shaped to be form fitting to the sound processor; an opening disposed at an end of the main body configured to receive the sound processor; and a plug port in the main body, wherein the sleeve is configured to lock a plug within the plug port. 12. The protective sleeve of claim 11 , further comprising: a second component configured to mechanically mate with the opening. 13. The protective sleeve of claim 12 , wherein the main body includes a base ring surrounding the opening, wherein the base ring is configured to mechanically mate with the second component. 14. The protective sleeve of claim 12 , wherein the second component comprises a base plug configured to be inserted into the opening in the main body to seal the sound processor in the main body. 15. The protective sleeve of claim 14 , wherein the main body includes a base ring surrounding the opening, and wherein the base plug comprises a plug ring surrounded by a portion of flexible material such that when the base plug is inserted into the main body, the base ring operates with the plug ring to deform a portion of flexible material surrounding the plug ring to couple the base plug to the main body. 16. The protective sleeve of claim 11 , further comprising: a rigid port ring disposed around the plug port, wherein when the plug is inserted into the plug port, the port ring operates with the plug to seal the plug port. 17. The protective sleeve of claim 16 , wherein when the plug is inserted into the plug port, the port ring operates with the plug to deform a portion of the main body to seal the plug port.
