Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A device comprising a fin structure, a vent disposed in the fin structure, a cooling coil disposed in the vent, a light disposed in the fin structure and wherein the fin structure is configured to create a Coanda effect for air exiting the vent.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A chilled beam, comprising: a first fin structure extending along a centerline of the chilled beam and outwardly from the centerline in a first direction; a second fin structure extending along the centerline and outwardly from the centerline in a second direction opposite the first direction; a flow path in the first fin structure and the second fin structure configured to receive air; a first vent disposed in the first fin structure and fluidly coupled with the flow path, wherein the first vent is configured to direct the air out of the first fin structure and away from the centerline; a second vent disposed in the second fin structure and fluidly coupled with the flow path, wherein the second vent is configured to direct the air out of the second fin structure and away from the centerline; and one or more light sources disposed at a bottom portion of the first fin structure, the second fin structure, or both. 2. The chilled beam of claim 1 , wherein the one or more light sources are disposed adjacent to an outlet of the first vent, the second vent, or both. 3. The chilled beam of claim 1 , comprising an air duct interface configured to couple to an air duct, wherein the air duct interface is configured to direct at least a portion of the air from the air duct to the flow path of the chilled beam. 4. The chilled beam of claim 1 , comprising a heat exchanger disposed at least partially within a housing of the chilled beam. 5. The chilled beam of claim 4 , wherein the heat exchanger is configured to receive chilled water and place the chilled water in a heat exchange relationship with the air in the flow path. 6. The chilled beam of claim 4 , wherein the one or more light sources comprise a first light source disposed adjacent to the first vent and a second light source disposed adjacent the second vent, the first vent is disposed laterally outward from the heat exchanger relative to the centerline, and the second vent is disposed laterally outward from the heat exchanger relative to the centerline. 7. The chilled beam of claim 6 , wherein the first light source is disposed laterally outward from the heat exchanger relative to the centerline, and the second light source is disposed laterally outward from the heat exchanger relative to the centerline. 8. The chilled beam of claim 1 , wherein the one or more light sources are configured to output light in a downward direction. 9. The chilled beam of claim 1 , wherein a light source of the one or more light sources is disposed between the first vent and a lateral outer edge of the first fin structure relative to the centerline. 10. A chilled beam, comprising: a first fin extending from a centerline of the chilled beam; a second fin extending from the centerline, wherein the first fin and the second fin are configured to pass air from an air duct therethrough; one or more vents disposed in the first fin, the second fin, or both, wherein the one or more vents are configured to direct the air out of the first fin, the second fin, or both, laterally away from the centerline; and one or more light sources coupled to the first fin, the second fin, or both, wherein the one or more light sources are configured to provide light below the first fin, the second fin, or both, in an installed configuration. 11. The chilled beam of claim 10 , wherein the one or more vents are disposed adjacent to the one or more lights sources. 12. The chilled beam of claim 11 , wherein the one or more vents comprise a first vent and a second vent, the one or more lights sources comprise a first light source and a second light source, the first light source is disposed adjacent to the first vent, and the second light source is disposed adjacent to the second vent. 13. The chilled beam of claim 12 , wherein the first light source and the first vent are disposed on a first side of the centerline, and the second light source and the second vent are disposed on a second side of the centerline opposite the first side. 14. The chilled beam of claim 10 , comprising a heat exchanger disposed at least partially within a housing of the chilled beam, wherein the heat exchanger is configured to exchange heat with the air. 15. A chilled beam, comprising: a first fin extending from a centerline of the chilled beam in a first direction along a lateral axis of the chilled beam; a second fin extending from the centerline of the chilled beam in a second direction, opposite the first direction, along the lateral axis of the chilled beam, wherein the centerline extends in a third direction crosswise to the first direction and the second direction; a first vent disposed in the first fin; a second vent disposed in the second fin, wherein the first vent and the second vent are each offset from the centerline along the lateral axis; a first light source coupled to the first fin; and a second light source coupled to the second fin, wherein the first light source and the second light source are configured to output light in a downward direction in an installed configuration. 16. The chilled beam of claim 15 , wherein the first vent is disposed between the centerline and the first light source, relative to the lateral axis, and the second vent is disposed between the centerline and the second light source, relative to the lateral axis. 17. The chilled beam of claim 15 , wherein the first vent is configured to discharge air at least partially in the first direction, and the second vent is configured to discharge air at least partially in the second direction. 18. The chilled beam of claim 15 , wherein the first light source is disposed on a first lateral side of the centerline, and the second light source is disposed on a second lateral side of the centerline opposite the first lateral side. 19. The chilled beam of claim 15 , wherein the first light source is disposed adjacent to a first outlet of the first vent, and where the second light source is disposed adjacent to a second outlet of the second vent. 20. The chilled beam of claim 19 , wherein the chilled beam is configured to receive a flow of air between the first vent and the second vent, relative to the lateral axis, and to discharge the flow of air via the first outlet of the first vent and the second outlet of the second vent.
