Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Disclosed herein is a golf club head comprising at least one crown opening and at least one crown insert attached to the body and covering the at least one crown opening. The golf club head further comprises at least one sole opening and at least one sole insert attached to the body and covering the at least one sole opening. The golf club head additionally includes at least one weight member configured to clamp first and second ledges at selected locations along a sliding weight track. The golf club head also comprise a coefficient of restitution (COR) feature located on the sole of the golf club head. The at least one crown insert is formed from a composite material having a density between 1 g/cc and 2 g/cc. The at least one sole insert is formed from a composite material having a density between 1 g/cc and 2 g/cc.

What is claimed is: 1. A golf club head comprising: a body having a face, a crown and a sole together defining an interior cavity; at least one crown opening and at least one crown insert attached to the body and covering the at least one crown opening; at least one sole opening and at least one sole insert attached to the body and covering the at least one sole opening; a coefficient of restitution (COR) feature located on the sole of the golf club head; a heel opening located on a heel end of the body, the heel opening configured to receive a fastening member; and a head-shaft connection system including a sleeve that is secured by the fastening member in a locked position, the head-shaft connection system configured to allow the golf club head to be adjustably attachable to a golf club shaft in a plurality of different positions resulting in an adjustability range of different combinations of loft angle, face angle, or lie angle; wherein the at least one crown insert formed from a composite material having a density between 1 g/cc and 2 g/cc; wherein the at least one sole insert formed from a composite material having a density between 1 g/cc and 2 g/cc; wherein the sole insert has an area of at least 1,250 mm 2 and a mass less than 3.0 grams and at least 1.75 grams, and the crown insert has an area of at least 3,000 mm 2 and a mass less than 8.0 grams and at least 4.5 grams, and wherein the area of the sole insert is less than the area of the crown insert; wherein the COR feature has a length and is offset an offset distance from a leading edge of the golf club head, where the offset distance is a minimum distance from the leading edge of the golf club head to the COR feature; and wherein a ratio of the COR feature length to the offset distance is greater than 4 and less than 15 and the offset distance is no less than 4 mm and no more than 12.5 mm. 2. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the heel opening and the COR feature are separated by a first portion of the sole. 3. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the body is formed of steel. 4. The golf club head of claim 1 , further comprising at least one weight member attached to the sole of the golf club head. 5. The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein the at least one weight member is attachable to the sole of the golf club head at two or more positions including at least a first position and a second position. 6. The golf club head of claim 5 , wherein a mass of the at least one weight member exceeds the combined mass of the crown insert and the sole insert. 7. The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein adjusting the position of the at least one weight member from a first position to a second position produces a change in the head origin y-axis (CGy) coordinate of between 2.0 mm and 6.0 mm. 8. The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein adjusting the position of the at least one weight member from a first position to a second position produces a change in the head origin y-axis (CGy) coordinate of less than 1.0 mm, and produces a change in the head origin x-axis (CGx) coordinate of at least 4.0 mm. 9. The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein the at least one weight member is attachable to the sole of the golf club head at a first position proximate a heel side of the golf club head and proximate the heel opening and the at least one weight member is attachable to the sole of the golf club head at a second position toe-ward of the first position. 10. The golf club head of claim 9 , wherein at least one of the at least one sole insert and the at least one crown insert includes a woven layer. 11. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the body is formed of titanium. 12. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein: the at least one crown insert and the at least one sole insert each having a thickness ranging from about 0.195 mm to about 0.9 mm; and the at least one crown insert and the at least one sole insert being comprised of at least four plies of uni-tape standard modulus graphite being oriented at any combination of 0°, +45°, −45° and 90°. 13. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the COR feature is a channel. 14. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the COR feature is a through slot. 15. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein: the length of the COR feature is, between, and inclusive of, 75 mm and 95 mm. 16. A golf club head comprising: a body having a face, a crown and a sole together defining an interior cavity; at least one crown opening and at least one crown insert attached to the body and covering the at least one crown opening; at least one sole opening and at least one sole insert attached to the body and covering the at least one sole opening; a coefficient of restitution (COR) feature located on the sole of the golf club head; a heel opening located on a heel end of the body, the heel opening configured to receive a fastening member; and a head-shaft connection system including a sleeve that is secured by the fastening member in a locked position, the head-shaft connection system configured to allow the golf club head to be adjustably attachable to a golf club shaft in a plurality of different positions resulting in an adjustability range of different combinations of loft angle, face angle, or lie angle; wherein the at least one crown insert formed from a composite material having a density between 1 g/cc and 2 g/cc; wherein the at least one sole insert formed from a composite material having a density between 1 g/cc and 2 g/cc; wherein the golf club head has a volume between 80 cm 3 and 220 cm 3 , the sole insert has an area of at least 1,250 mm 2 and at most 2,000 mm 2 and a mass less than 3.0 grams and at least 1.75 grams, and the crown insert has an area of at least 3,000 mm 2 and at most 4,000 mm 2 and a mass less than 8.0 grams and at least 4.5 grams, and wherein the area of the sole insert is less than the area of the crown insert; wherein the COR feature has a length and is offset an offset distance from a leading edge of the golf club head, where the offset distance is a minimum distance from the leading edge of the golf club head to the COR feature; and wherein a ratio of the COR feature length to the offset distance is greater than 4 and less than 15 and the offset distance is no less than 4 mm and no more than 12.5 mm. 17.
