A media system includes a computer network, a media device supporting a network-based media sharing protocol, a plurality of output devices located at a plurality of physical locations within a hospitality establishment, and a system controller. In response to a first event, the system controller assigns the media device to a particular guest device by reconfiguring one or more components of the computer network to enable the particular guest device to utilize the network-based media sharing protocol to share media over the computer network with the media device, and commands an output device located at a physical location associated with the particular guest device to play media corresponding to the media signal outputted by the media device on the output port. In response to a second event, the system controller un-assigns the media device from the particular guest device and commands the output device to stop playing the media.

What is claimed is: 1. A system for providing high speed Internet access and media entertainment at a hospitality establishment, the system comprising: one or more computer servers coupled to and controlling access between a guest network at the hospitality establishment, a media device network at the hospitality establishment, and an external network being the Internet; and a plurality of media devices on the media device network, each of the media devices for providing media functions within respective ones of a plurality of guest rooms of the hospitality establishment; wherein the one or more computer servers are configured to: prior to a guest device on the guest network being logged in at a login portal, block the guest device on the guest network from communicating with one or more web sites on the external network and further block the guest device on the guest network from utilizing a network-based media sharing protocol with the media devices on the media device network; provide the login portal and receive one or more communications from the guest device over the guest network during a login process, the communications including one or more personal details of a user; query a property management system (PMS) of the hospitality establishment to confirm the personal details match a registered guest of a particular guest room of the hospitality establishment; in response to confirming that the personal details match the registered guest of the particular guest room of the hospitality establishment, update a login database in a storage device to store a record that the guest device is logged in and allow the guest device on the guest network to access the websites on the external network; and further in response to confirming that the personal details match the registered guest of the particular guest room of the hospitality establishment, query an in-room device table in the storage device to select a subset of the media devices of the hospitality establishment, the subset being one or more of the media devices that are associated with the particular guest room and the subset including at least one of the media devices but not all of the media devices, and allow the guest device on the guest network to utilize the network-based media sharing protocol to initiate media streaming playback only on the subset of the media devices on the media device network. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein, after the guest device is logged in at the login portal, the one or more computer servers are further configured to again block the guest device on the guest network from utilizing the network-based media sharing protocol with the media devices on the media device network in response to receiving a check-out message from the property management system (PMS), the check-out message indicating the registered guest has checked out of the particular guest room. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer servers are configured to provide a media proxy configured to: act as a transparent proxy between the guest device on the guest network and only the subset of the media devices on the media network in response to the one or more computer servers confirming that the personal details match the registered guest of the particular room when the guest device is logged in at the login portal; and not act as the transparent proxy between the guest device on the guest network and any of the media devices on the media network before the guest device is logged in at the login portal. 4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the media proxy is further configured to send on the guest network a message announcing availability of the media proxy as a streaming destination supporting the network-based media sharing protocol at a network address of the media proxy on the guest network. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer servers are configured to provide a gateway configured to: pass unicast network traffic between the guest device on the guest network and only the subset of the media devices on the media network in in response to the one or more computer servers confirming that the personal details match the registered guest of the particular room when the guest device is logged in at the login portal; and block unicast network traffic between the guest device on the guest network and all of the media devices on the media network before the guest device is logged in at the login portal. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein: the personal details of the user include a name of the user and a room number; and the one or more computer servers are further configured to query the property management system (PMS) to confirm that the name matches the registered guest of the particular room identified by the room number. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the subset of the media devices are physically located within the particular guest room. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein, after being allowed to utilize the network-based media sharing protocol to initiate media streaming playback only on the subset of the media devices on the media device network, the guest device utilizes the network-based media sharing protocol to play internal media content pre-stored on the particular guest device on at least one of the subset of the media devices. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein, after being allowed to utilize the network-based media sharing protocol to initiate media streaming playback only on the subset of the media devices on the media device network, the guest device utilizes the network-based media sharing protocol to play media content from an Internet-based streaming web site on at least one of the subset of the media devices. 10. The system of claim 1 , wherein: a media content initiated for playback by the guest device utilizing the network-based media sharing protocol is outputted by a selected one of the subset of the media devices on a first port; the one or more computer servers are further configured to send an input port selection command to a display device located in the particular guest room of the hospitality establishment; and the input port selection command causes the display device to switch an input of the display device to the first port to thereby begin playing the media content. 11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer servers are configured to: prior to a second guest device on the guest network completing an in-room media sharing feature setup process, block the second guest device on the guest network from communicating with the one or more web sites on the external network and further block the second guest device on the guest network from utilizing the network-based media sharing protocol with the media devices on the media device network; receive a passkey from the second guest device over the guest network; query a passkey-to-room table in the storage device to confirm the passkey is associated with a second particular guest room of the hospitality establishment; and in response to confirming that the passkey received from the second guest device is associated with the second particular guest room, query the in-room device table in the storage device to select a second subset of the media devices, the second subset being one or more of the media devices that are associated with the second particular guest room, and allow the second guest device on the guest network to utilize the network-based media sharing protocol to initiate media streaming playback only on the second subset of the media devices on the media device network. 12. The system of claim 11 , wherein: the guest network is a first virtual local area netwo
