Official abstract text for this publication.
The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for logging a radio resource control (RRC) failure of user equipment (UE) and receiving the log. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for logging an RRC failure of UE may comprise the steps of: attempting random access; if the failure of random access is sensed, logging information on the failure; and if the success of random access is sensed, transmitting information on the failure logged before the success to a connected base station. According to one embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus and a method which effectively log a channel state or a connection failure can be provided.

What is claimed is: 1. A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a communication system, the method comprising: transmitting at least one preamble for a random access; receiving a random access response as a response to the at least one preamble for the random access; transmitting a first radio resource control (RRC) connection request message; starting a timer associated with an RRC connection setup; in case that the RRC connection setup is not completed before the timer expires, logging connection establishment failure information, wherein the connection establishment failure information includes first information indicating a number of preambles that were transmitted and second information indicating whether or not a maximum power level was used for a last transmitted preamble among the preambles; transmitting a second RRC connection request message; receiving an RRC connection setup message as a response to the second RRC connection request message; transmitting an RRC connection complete message including a first indicator, wherein the first indicator informs that the UE has the connection establishment failure information and a second indicator informs that the UE has radio link failure information; receiving a UE information request message including information for requesting the connection establishment failure information; and transmitting a UE information response message as a response to the UE information request message, wherein the UE information response message includes the connection establishment failure information. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one preamble was transmitted by increasing a transmission power level. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the connection establishment failure information further includes at least one of: information indicating a cell in which connect establishment failed, channel measurement information of the cell, channel measurement information of at least one neighbor cell, or location information. 4. A user equipment (UE) in a communication system, the UE comprising: a transceiver; and a controller coupled with the transceiver and configured to: transmit at least one preamble for a random access, receive a random access response as a response to the at least one preamble for the random access, transmit, via the transceiver to a base station, a first radio resource control (RRC) connection request message, start a timer associated with an RRC connection setup, in case that the RRC connection setup is not completed before the timer expires, log connection establishment failure information, wherein the connection establishment failure information includes first information indicating a number of preambles that were transmitted and second information indicating whether or not a maximum power level was used for a last transmitted preamble among the preambles, transmit a second RRC connection request message, receive an RRC connection setup message as a response to the second RRC connection request message, transmit an RRC connection complete message including a first indicator, wherein the first indicator informs that the UE has the connection establishment failure information and a second indicator informs that the UE has radio link failure information, receive a UE information request message including information for requesting the connection establishment failure information, and transmit a UE information response message as a response to the UE information request message, wherein the UE information response message includes the connection establishment failure information. 5. The UE of claim 4 , wherein the at least one preamble was transmitted by increasing a transmission power level. 6. The UE of claim 4 , wherein the connection establishment failure information further includes at least one of: information indicating a cell in which connect establishment failed, channel measurement information of the cell, channel measurement information of at least one neighbor cell, or location information.
