A cassette integrated system. The cassette integrated system includes a mixing cassette, a balancing cassette, a middle cassette fluidly connected to the mixing cassette and the balancing cassette and at least one pod. The mixing cassette is fluidly connected to the middle cassette by at least one fluid line and the middle cassette is fluidly connected to the balancing cassette by at least one fluid line. The at least one pod is connected to at least two of the cassettes wherein the pod is located in an area between the cassettes.

What is claimed is: 1. An integrated cassette assembly of a dialysis system comprising: a first cassette, a second cassette, and a third cassette, wherein the second cassette is interposed between the first cassette and the third cassette; a plurality of pod housings positioned between the second cassette and the third cassette, and between the second cassette and the first cassette, each pod housing having a fluid connection to each of the cassettes between which the pod housing is located; a plurality of valves in each cassette, each said valve having a fluid connection to a respective pod housing or to a fluid inlet or outlet of the cassette assembly; and at least one metering pump in the first cassette, the metering pump having a fluid connection to an inlet of the cassette assembly for connection to a dialysate solution supply when the dialysis system is in operation and a fluid connection to a mixing flowpath in the cassette assembly; and at least one ultrafiltration pump in the third cassette, the ultrafiltration pump having a fluid connection to an inlet and to an outlet of the cassette assembly. 2. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first cassette is connected to the second cassette by a first set of rigid conduits, and wherein the third cassette is connected to the second cassette by a second set of rigid conduits. 3. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 2 , wherein one or more of said rigid conduits include a check valve. 4. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 1 , wherein the pod housings between the first cassette and the second cassette are configured as one or more pod pumps and a mixing chamber pod. 5. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 4 , wherein the one or more pod pumps comprise a first water pod pump configured for pumping water from a water inlet of the cassette assembly to the mixing chamber pod and then to an outlet of the cassette assembly to a dialysate tank connected to the dialysis system, a second water pod pump for pumping water from the water inlet to a bicarbonate cartridge connected to the dialysis system, and a first dialysate pod pump for pumping dialysate solution from the dialysate tank to the third cassette, when the dialysis system is in operation. 6. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 5 , wherein the at least one metering pump comprises two metering pumps, a first metering pump configured for pumping an acid solution from an acid source connected to the dialysis system to the first water pod pump and a second metering pump configured for pumping a bicarbonate solution from the bicarbonate cartridge to the mixing chamber pod, when the dialysis system is in operation. 7. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 5 , wherein the pod housings between the third cassette and the second cassette comprise a second dialysate pod pump configured for pumping dialysate solution from the dialysate tank to the third cassette, two pod pumps configured for pumping dialysate solution from a dialyzer of the dialysis system to the third cassette, and two balancing chamber pods for balancing a flow of dialysate from the first or second dialysate pump pods with a flow of dialysate from two inner dialysate pump pods, when the dialysis system is in operation. 8. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 7 , wherein the ultrafiltration pump is configured for pumping dialysate solution from the dialyzer to a drain, bypassing the balancing chamber pods. 9. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 4 , wherein each of the pod pumps comprises a pumping chamber having a curved rigid chamber having a fluid conduit separated from an actuation chamber by a flexible diaphragm, the actuation chamber having an actuation port for transmitting positive or negative pneumatic pressure to the diaphragm. 10. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 1 , wherein the pod housings between the third cassette and the second cassette comprise one or more pod pumps and one or more balancing chamber pods. 11. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 10 , wherein each of the balancing chamber pods comprises a first fluid chamber wall separated from a second fluid chamber wall by a flexible diaphragm, each fluid chamber wall having a port for connection to separate fluid channels. 12. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least one metering pump comprises two metering pumps, a first metering pump configured for pumping an acid solution from an acid source connected to the dialysis system, and a second metering pump configured for pumping a bicarbonate solution from a bicarbonate source connected to the dialysis system, when the dialysis system is in operation. 13. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least one metering pump and ultrafiltration pump each comprises a midplate separating a top plate from a bottom plate, the midplate defining a pumping chamber wall with an inlet and an outlet, the midplate separated from the bottom plate by a flexible diaphragm, the bottom plate defining an actuation chamber wall to apply positive or negative pneumatic pressure to the diaphragm, and the top plate providing a sealing channel wall for a fluid channel leading to the inlet and away from the outlet. 14. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of valves comprises a midplate separating a top plate from a bottom plate, the midplate defining a valve chamber wall with an inlet and an outlet, the midplate separated from the bottom plate by a flexible diaphragm, the bottom plate defining an actuation chamber wall to apply positive or negative pneumatic pressure to the diaphragm, and the top plate providing a sealing channel wall for a fluid channel leading to the inlet and away from the outlet. 15. An integrated cassette assembly of a dialysis system comprising: a first cassette, a second cassette, and a third cassette, wherein the second cassette is interposed between the first cassette and the third cassette; a plurality of pod housings positioned between the second cassette and the third cassette, and between the second cassette and the first cassette, each pod housing having a fluid connection to at least one of the cassettes; a plurality of valves in each cassette, each said valve having a fluid connection to a respective pod housing or to a fluid inlet or outlet of the cassette containing said valve; and at least one metering pump in at least one of the cassettes, the metering pump having a fluid connection to an inlet of the cassette assembly for connection to a dialysate solution supply when the dialysis system is in operation and a fluid connection to a mixing flowpath in the cassette assembly; and at least one ultrafiltration pump in one of the cassettes, the ultrafiltration pump having a fluid connection to an inlet and to an outlet of the cassette assembly. 16. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 15 , wherein the first cassette is connected to the second cassette by a first set of rigid conduits, and wherein the third cassette is connected to the second cassette by a second set of rigid conduits. 17. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 16 , wherein one or more of said rigid conduits include a check valve. 18. The integrated cassette assembly of claim 15 , wherein the at least one metering pump comprises two metering pumps, a first metering pump configured for pumping an acid solution from an acid source connected to the dialysis system, and a second metering pump configured for pumping a bicarbonate solution from a bicarbonate source conn
