Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A method performed by at least one computing device. The method includes receiving a credit request from a self-checkout device before a customer completes an instore checkout process and sending a request for a Uniform Resource Locator (“URL”) to one or more authentication computing devices. The authentication computing device(s) send the URL to the mobile device. The method includes sending a credit application to the mobile device after the customer selects the URL, receiving a submission of the credit application from the mobile device, approving credit based on the submission, and forwarding a code to the mobile device. The code indicates that the credit is to be used to complete the instore checkout process when scanned by the scanner.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method comprising: receiving a credit request from a self-checkout (SCO) device for a new credit amount, wherein the credit request includes SCO information associated with the SCO device and a mobile device number associated with a customer, wherein the mobile device number is entered through the SCO device, and wherein the credit request is received over a security gateway; transmitting a request to obtain an authentication Uniform Resource Locator (URL), wherein the request includes the SCO information and a target URL, wherein the target URL corresponds to a website for applying for the new credit amount, and wherein when the request is received by a URL generator, the URL generator provides the authentication URL; authenticating the mobile device, wherein the mobile device is authenticated as a result of selection of the authentication URL through the mobile device; transmitting a customer information request, wherein when the customer information request is received by a carrier that provides one or more mobile services to the mobile device, the carrier provides customer information, and wherein the customer information corresponds to the customer, the mobile device, and the carrier; transmitting an electronic credit application for applying for the new credit amount, wherein the electronic credit application is automatically populated using the customer information, and wherein when the electronic credit application is received at the mobile device, the electronic credit application is presented through the mobile device; dynamically generating a code, wherein the code is dynamically generated when the electronic credit application is approved, and wherein the code corresponds to the new credit amount; transmitting the code, wherein when the code is received at the mobile device, the code is scannable by SCO device, and wherein scanning of the code causes the SCO device to transmit a payment request, transaction information, and the code over the security gateway; and using the new credit amount to process the payment request and the transaction information. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the credit request is received before the customer completes an in-store checkout process. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the customer information request is transmitted when permission has been granted by the mobile device. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the code is a barcode. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: transmitting a message, wherein the message includes the authentication URL, and wherein when the message is received by the mobile device, the selection of the authentication URL is performed. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the security gateway is an endpoint configured to receive the credit request. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the code includes encrypted payment information, and wherein the encrypted payment information corresponds to the new credit amount. 8. A system, comprising: one or more data processors; and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium containing instructions which, when executed on the one or more data processors, cause the one or more data processors to perform operations including: receiving a credit request from a self-checkout fSCO) device for a new credit amount, wherein the credit request includes SCO information associated with the SCO device and a mobile device number associated with a customer, wherein the mobile device number is entered through the SCO device, and wherein the credit request is received over a security gateway; transmitting a request to obtain an authentication Uniform Resource Locator (URL), wherein the request includes the SCO information and a target URL, wherein the target URL corresponds to a website for applying for the new credit amount, and wherein when the request is received by a URL generator, the URL generator provides the authentication URL; authenticating the mobile device, wherein the mobile device is authenticated as a result of selection of the authentication URL through the mobile device; transmitting a customer information request, wherein when the customer information request is received by a carrier that provides one or more mobile services to the mobile device, the carrier provides customer information, and wherein the customer information corresponds to the customer, the mobile device, and the carrier; transmitting an electronic credit application for applying for the new credit amount, wherein the electronic credit application is automatically populated using the customer information, and wherein when the electronic credit application is received at the mobile device, the electronic credit application is presented through the mobile device; dynamically generating a code, wherein the code is dynamically generated when the electronic credit application is approved, and wherein the code corresponds to the new credit amount; transmitting the code, wherein when the code is received at the mobile device, the code is scannable by the SCO device, and wherein scanning of the code causes the SCO device to transmit a payment request, transaction information, and the code over the security gateway; and using the new credit amount to process the payment request and the transaction information. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the credit request is received before the customer completes an in-store checkout process. 10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the customer information request is transmitted when permission has been granted by the mobile device. 11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the code is a barcode. 12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more data processors to: transmit a message, wherein the message includes the authentication URL, and wherein when the message is received by the mobile device, the selection of the authentication URL is performed. 13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the security gateway is an endpoint configured to receive the credit request. 14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the code includes encrypted payment information, and wherein the encrypted payment information corresponds to the new credit amount. 15. A computer-program product tangibly embodied in a non- transitory machine-readable storage medium, including instructions configured to cause a data processing apparatus to perform operations including: receiving a credit request from a self-checkout fSCO) device for a new credit amount, wherein the credit request includes SCO information associated with the SCO device and a mobile device number associated with a customer, wherein the mobile device number is entered through the SCO device, and wherein the credit request is received over a security gateway; transmitting a request to obtain an authentication Uniform Resource Locator (URL), wherein the request includes the SCO information and a target URL, wherein the target URL corresponds to a website for applying for the new credit amount, and wherein when the request is received by a URL generator, the URL generator provides the authentication URL; authenticating the mobile device, wherein the mobile device is authenticated as a result of selection of the authentication URL through the mobile device; transmitting a customer information request, wherein when the customer information request is received by a carrier that provides one or more mobile services to the mobile device, the carrier provides customer information, and wherein the customer information corresponds to the customer, the mobile device, and the carrier; transmitting an ele
