Aspects of the disclosure relate to monitoring and using telemetry information in various ways. For example, a system that monitors telemetry information may include a user that gathers telemetry information of a device and transmits the information to a monitored room. A manager may join a monitored room and monitor the monitored room for particular types of telemetry information. In one example, a manager may determine whether a downstream device is experiencing a network problem, such as a low bitrate. A manager may also transmit commands to the player via the monitored room, which causes the downstream device to operate in accordance with the transmitted command. In one example, a manager may transmit a command that causes a player to decode a particular service.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method comprising: joining, by a first computing device, a communication session that is configured to allow members of the communication session to transmit information based on a messaging protocol; receiving, by the first computing device, from a second computing device, and via the communication session, a telemetry information message that is formatted according to the messaging protocol and indicates that the second computing device received data associated with a service; determining, by the first computing device and based on the telemetry information message, that a criterion associated with receiving the data associated with the service has been satisfied; and sending, using the messaging protocol, a message indicating that the criterion has been satisfied. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the telemetry information message indicates one or more of: a bitrate at which the second computing device received the data; a current service from which the second computing device is decoding data; a time at which the second computing device began decoding the data; a length of time over which the second computing device decoded the data; a manifest associated with the service; insertion of an advertisement in a data stream of the service; output of an advertisement by the second computing device; or a user interaction with an advertisement output by the second computing device. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication session is a chat room, and the messaging protocol comprises one or more of the following: an instant messaging protocol, a chat messaging protocol, a real-time text-based messaging protocol, a presence-related protocol, or Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the criterion being satisfied indicates one or more of: a problem associated with decoding the service; a problem associated with distribution of the service; a change in a number of devices receiving data associated with the service; a bitrate outside of an expected bitrate threshold; a number of devices experiencing a network condition; a threshold output time for an advertisement; or a threshold interaction time for an advertising application. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the message indicating that the criterion has been satisfied comprises a command configured to cause the second computing device to post an additional telemetry information message to the communication session. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication session is further configured to make information posted to the communication session accessible to each member of the communication session. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication session comprises automated postings of telemetry messages from a plurality of video playback devices respectively associated with a plurality of different users. 8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: retrieving, based on the determining that the criterion has been satisfied, one or more prior telemetry information messages that were posted to the communication session. 9. A system comprising: a first computing device; and a second computing device; wherein the first computing device comprises: one or more first processors; and first memory storing first executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more first processors, cause the first computing device to: join a communication session that is configured to allow members of the communication session to transmit information based on a messaging protocol; receive, from the second computing device and via the communication session, a telemetry information message that is formatted according to the messaging protocol and indicates that the second computing device received data associated with a service; determine based on the telemetry information message, that a criterion associated with receiving the data associated with the service has been satisfied; and send, using the messaging protocol, a message indicating that the criterion has been satisfied; and wherein the second computing device comprises: one or more second processors; and second memory storing second executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more second processors, cause the second computing device to: send the telemetry information message. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the telemetry information message indicates one or more of: a bitrate at which the second computing device received the data; a current service from which the second computing device is decoding data; a time at which the second computing device began decoding the data; a length of time over which the second computing device decoded the data; a manifest associated with the service; insertion of an advertisement in a data stream of the service; output of an advertisement by the second computing device; or a user interaction with an advertisement output by the second computing device. 11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the communication session is a chat room, and the messaging protocol comprises one or more of the following: an instant messaging protocol, a chat messaging protocol, a real-time text-based messaging protocol, a presence-related protocol, or Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). 12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the criterion being satisfied indicates one or more of: a problem associated with decoding the service; a problem associated with distribution of the service; a change in a number of devices receiving data associated with the service; a bitrate outside of an expected bitrate threshold; a number of devices experiencing a network condition; a threshold output time for an advertisement; or a threshold interaction time for an advertising application. 13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the message indicating that the criterion has been satisfied comprises a command configured to cause the second computing device to post an additional telemetry information message to the communication session. 14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the communication session is further configured to make information posted to the communication session accessible to each member of the communication session. 15. The system of claim 9 , wherein the communication session comprises automated postings of telemetry messages from a plurality of video playback devices respectively associated with a plurality of different users. 16. The system of claim 9 , wherein the first executable instructions, when executed by the one or more first processors, further cause the first computing device to: retrieve, based on the determining that the criterion has been satisfied, one or more prior telemetry information messages that were posted to the communication session. 17. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause: joining a communication session that is configured to allow members of the communication session to transmit information based on a messaging protocol; receiving, from a computing device and via the communication session, a telemetry information message that is formatted according to the messaging protocol and indicates that the computing device received data associated with a service determining, based on the telemetry information message, that a criterion associated with receiving the data associated with the service has been satisfied; and sending, using the messaging protocol, a message indicating that the criterion has been satisfi
